Re: New 24's???
I spoke to John a while back about making a mini Y2K out of a 24.he said there was not enough interest and to much tooling cost to make a new mold. I still think its a good idea.

Re: New 24's???
Considering the swim platform from the Y2K is basically a direct bolt on, and the deck could be pieced to make for minimum tooling . I think it coould work. But as JC said, the tooling would cost a small fortune. We still have the 34'' center console deck plug that we''ve been working on. JC has a small fortune in the tooling for that.
Just think, the 24' could now be called a 26' Hmmmmm sounds good already. I think it would look awesome too. Rick |
Re: New 24's???
some people just dont want a 30 ft boat. Too much to handle. A 26 would make a great entry level boat .

Re: New 24's???
Spoke with JC again about making a 24 (26' ) Y2K. He said NO!!! What can I say, I tried. His logic is, why would anyone buy a 24', when for a few k more you can hane a 30'. I know, it doesn't make sense.

Re: New 24's???
It kinda makes sense... that is why pantera stated that 2005 will be the last yr for the 24. For a little more cash you can get a 28.

Re: New 24's???
Bigger isn't always better... :D
My best boating buddy has a 29' Fountain, which like a 30' super is realy like 31-32' long. Anyway, the times I realy envy him having a larger boat is when we run in LI Sound when the going gets rough. Also, he can take his family of 4 on overnight trips. Even though we are only 3 overnighters don't happen. I will say that we do boat in the CT river 75-80% of the time and the 24' Super is the perfect size! Some day I will step up to a bigger boat, but bigger boats are more work and more $$ no matter how you look at it ... :drink: |
Re: New 24's???
But from a manufacturing side, a single engine 30, doesn't cost much more to build than a single engine 24... and you can get more $ for it.

Superboat is a small company so I do understand where he is coming from. Right now the Y2K orders keep rolling in and I don't believe he wants to grow the campany too much... I believe there is still a market for a revised 24/26' Super though. If someone does place an order why not update the deck mold? JC spent the money on the 21" Super. I also believe that JC should still offer the 30' with the tempest deck. |

Re: New 24's???
For a new buyer a 24-26' is ideal. 21 is too small to carry family. The 24 looks like it would suffice for short trips and is easily trailered.
Problem is the additional costs of owning a 30' boat. Storage costs, maintenance, etc. How many people can fit a 30' boat in their driveway? For me the 30' would also be a little much for a 1st time ride. Would like to se updated version. Oh well! |
