Default 24' 300 O/B, setback and prop suggestions?

Hi all
I'm looking for some help setting up my new '89 SB.

I'm looking for a jack plate to set the prop ht.
Any suggestions on amount of setback?

Mostly running in Puget Sound, guessing 1-2 foot chop, (i'm new to the area), but already chine walking badly with any side to side chop at 60+ MPH. (that's with 1 hour run time on the boat)
I want to get some bow lift in the prop so I can use the trim tabs to settle the chine walk, and hope a different prop will help that too.

The 23P mirage is going. no bow lift at all.
does the raker prop give bow lift? (sternlift and bow lift would be even better then just bow lift.)

How much prop can I move w a stock 300 Johnson, ( no oil inj or Power Steering)?

I was offered a 25 renagade to try, any idea what kind of lift it has, or if it's a good prop for the boat?

The Johnson lower unit has a really small swept skeg.
I'm thinking about welding on a merc skeg to give it better control.
Any Ideas here?

Setup help from your experience is much appreciated.
Thanks
Evan

My neighbor ran a tempest on his 24 baja with the V8 and loved it. That boat would really hang. Drivebuys looked like just the motor in the water. My other guess is to ask SUPERBASH.

any of mercs trophy props have been the hot ticket on single outboard setups.....choppers although old technology work well also...

I would try a Trohpy Plus or a Revolution 4... Both of these props will get you on plane quicker, faster top end speed, and give you good bow lift......Mirage is not the prop for that rig

The OMC Raker gives good bow lift. Much better then a Mirage. I tried the Mirage plus on my 235 and it sucked. the Raker was much better. And get this!! The prop that I'm running now is a Stiletto. Best bow lift so far, also 6 mph faster. Go figure. You would think OMC would have the best for their motors.

heres what I saw for ya for a more informed reccomendation... (i was with evan when he ran the boat the first time and also ran it myself)

23P mirage currently VERY BAD NO LIFT, HO CONTROLL..
6600 RPM tryin to power through the chine walk, Chinewalk felt like a$$ end was slidin out and that is what was causin the walk.. trim helped but not much.. threw a big roost but not much else... 75-77 indicated on speedo(NOT GPS).. prop calc says about 68 actual.. dunno if rev limiter is still there but if it is it is set at 6700 or higher..

engine is mounted as high as possible on the transom and it feels as if the motor is dragging and could use a height increase also would a larger skeg be benificial or not????

Im werkin with dregsz on this so I thought I would list what I saw on here so peeps would have some more technical info to go by... sorry for no GPS speeds but was to busy dodgin logs, drivin through chinewlak and tryin to find the ramp to look at the GPS i had..
