I entered 5500lbs, 425HP, 70mph to calculate the constant.
Then changed the 425HP to 1400 and it spit out 127...

I think thats a little on the low side. Redo the calculation with 4500 LBS., 425HP at 74 and see what it comes out to. Pat, remember that this motor only weighs 400lbs. Superbaby did the calculations already.
Gary, would you like to share your results ?? already

I was at 138-140 and that seems about right but its not really constant the whole time. You have to keep hull in the water and all the other problems that pop up at those speeds. I think the boat will get over 125 but how much is one hell of a guess.

This whole test comes down to weight of the Y2K. At 4500 the boat comes in at 139 MPH !!!! I did start a thread on this.

OK guys,
I think we are being a little optimistic here with regards to the weight. Fasteddie's boat weighs in at 4650 dry. Anyone else put their Y2K on a scale?
I think that monster sage drive will counteract the fact the turbine weighs 1/2 of a BBC.
So I think with fuel, gear, and people, 5500lbs total is a real number...
Now with regards to the 74mph number. Keith has stated that his boat consistently runs 70-72mph with normal loading. I may be wrong but that 74mph number is with no fuel, one person, and a tale wind.
So if you want to throw 74 in to the calculation, OK...
Believe me, I want to hear the thing goes 150...
Now lets see who gets closer to reality...

Pat,
A Sage #8 weighs 350lbs. A #6 merc weighs 520 !!! The Turbine weighs approx. 400lbs. Also take into consideration that the fuel tank will be relocated 3 feet forward. He's going with a lightweight layup. I can't see the thing weighing over 4500lbs.

Hey guys,

The turbine engine with the F-N-R gearbox stuck on the end of it and the brake hardware and other happy stuff is approximately 445 lbs.

I am not sure how much the Sage drive weighs, but as I understand it, it's significantly LIGHTER than a Mercury #6 drive. If I had to guess, I'd say it is probably around 300 lbs. What do you think, Rick?
