I may still have JC build me a motor...

Sorry guys I have been trying to put the boat on the back burner because I just get disapointed when I think about it. I'm hoping to have some resolution this week as to which direction I'm going: Sticking with this motor or having a 2nd built. I know JC is a local on here so if he sees this or someone else does let him know I would like a quote. N/A w/ carb or EFI. My fax is 714-698-0864 or send me a PM with some contact info.

Thanks for the support all.

Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!

Rob,
Your best bet is a Konrad 800 HP. Serviced right there in California. At around 30K you cant go wrong. This way you will have the full Konrad Package, with a warraranty. And believe me, I make no comission. I think that is the way to go . Jeffs motors are awesome, but send it back to N.Y. , or wait for a OK on a repair??
I told Jc to give you a call today. Who Luvs ya !! It'll all work out.

I'll be on the water in 2007... With the weather turning cold back east I'm not pushing to get anything done, I would rather everyone involved take there time and get there part done right. Besides I'm buried with work and now the holidays are here. Have a good Turkey day Gary.

I stopped down to see Rick for superfest and did see your boat tucked safely away and covered nicely in a corner. Rick didnt have to much time to talk he was busy glassing stringers in a 21.

Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!

I'm finally healthy again so I saw the monster last night. And I mean huge. I left a message for Coen but can someone get me the measurement from crank-shaft center to bottom of hatch or from top of lifter valley to bottom of hatch?

I didn't have a camera with me but with the blower on this is one tall motor. We started preping the motor for the crate. I'm hoping to get by to finish it this week and get it out the door but I want to see how far off it is from making it under the hatch. If it's not even close the blower might be getting swapped out for something else?

Waiting on the dino sheet and video... I'm being kept in suspense (I think its good that all the guys just get this big grin on there face when I ask how it did).

FX10 01-30-2007 11:35 AM

Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!

Rob,
With a tall blower, I don't think it will fit under the standard scoop hatch. You might have to go with a flat hatch with a scoop or the boxed raised hatch.

Pat McPherson 01-30-2007 12:12 PM

Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!

Hey Rob,
You better unbolt that 14-71 and bolt on a quad-rotor or procharger...
Honestly, you don't want to change the hatch. The standard scoop is real nice.

Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!

A ProCharger intercooled M5 would be much more efficient and easier on the engine. It will pump 1700hp so you know it's not woking hard.

Re: Rob, Huntington Beach !!

Rob Glad to hear your feeling better. I also have been under the weather but now up and around and working with Rick on my cabin project. Dont worry about the height face it ,its not going to fit. An 871 is 12.5 tall intake to carb adaptor. 1 to 3 inches for the carb adaptor you have. Carbs are 3 inches tall then at least 3 inches for a filter. Then through in 4 inches for an intercooler. For a total of 20-23 from top intake boss. Tall decks are also taller. Also the measurements are going to be different front to back because the motor goes in on an angle. If you want a stock hatch then your going to need a pro charger. Tall deck big blower intercooled not happening. Your x dim mite be different using the conrad also a factor. Ship what you have and let Rick make it fit. Ricks going to need installation time and time to make a hatch. Spring is coming fast and the shops been busy. My big issue was pan clearance. With the drive being only 18 inches shaft to shaft and a 12 quart pan I can barely get a water hose under the pan. Also had to get a shortie bildge pump that just fit under the transmision. My point is theirs going to be some hurdles rick has to overcome so the sooner you ship the sooner he can get started.

FASTERDAMITT 02-11-2007 08:34 PM

I gave Rob the measurment from my boat. His response was he's buying a ProCharger M4. Ok Rob, lets get that baby on the water!!!!!!!!!!!

z.zuperboat 02-12-2007 07:54 AM

Not That I Like Spending Other Peoples Money But If He Has To Buy Something What About The Rtech Thing ? That Looked Pretty Cool And Was To Be The Hot Ticket For Pro Charger Type Applications ! Im Sure They Could Give You Some Heigh Specs For It. It Did Look Pretty Tall.

FX10 02-13-2007 06:05 PM

Rob !!
Do us Superboaters have to send Da Boyz out to Cali to pay the builder a visit ?? It CAN be arranged. ;)

HuntingtonBeach 02-14-2007 12:05 PM

Parts are ordered but its gonna take a week or 2 as everyone is at the boat shows (LA & MIami). Funny the things you dont think about until they are stareing you in the face (like how tall a blower motor can be).

In all honesty this has been really tough for me to stay on top of. I have a full time business to run, the boat is being built accross the country and the motor is being done by a friend at "friend prices". Would I have liked to have this all done 8 months ago? Hell ya but hey sometimes things take more time then you think. Bottom line is I want to be happy when everything is done and If that means it costs another couple weeks then I guess thats what it will take.

Rtech's set up was suppose to cost stupid dollars and I have yet to hear of it coming out of the prototype/test stage? With the procharger set up 1000hp+ shouldn't be a problem. And I bit the bullet and added EFI.... It's only money right??? LOL

Rob

Rob

The procharger may not look as big and bad as a roots or whipple, but they do make lots of power.

I do like EFI too; turn the key and drive away from the dock.
What EFI system will you be using?

The baddest procharger engine I ever saw run was in Crazy George's 18' Donzi. It has a FAST EFI system and at 10lbs of boost that 432cube small block was makes like 900HP @ 7000rpm...

Good Luck with the engine rebuild.
Rob, your boat looks great! and will be an awesome machine...:D
