Re: twin outboard Y2K FAST!!
I TO AM VERY INTERESTED IN A NEW Y2K WITH TWIN 2.5 SS ROS MOTORS. I HAD A 1989 30 SUPERBOAT BACK IN THE MID 90'S WITH TWIN V8'S. I THINK IT WAS SET UP AS A RACE BOAT, IT HAD A THREE MAN STAND UP BOLSTER SEAT AND A FRONT BOW GAS TANK AND TRANSFER PUMPS TO MOVE FUEL FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK TANK. SER# SBY10227D989. I BOUGHT THE NEW 2.5's FROM OCEAN OUTBOARDS A MONTH AGO FOR A SKATER DEAL THAT NEVER WENT THUR. NOW I HAVE THESE MOTORS AND NO BOAT TO PUT THEM ON. I WAS WOUNDERING IF YOU GUYS EVER USE CARBON FIBER/ KEVLAR LAYUPS. MY NEW FAMILY BOAT IS A FULL CARBON/ KEVLAR LAYUP AND I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF YOU GUYS AT SUPERBOAT COULD LAYUP A LITE WEIGHT Y2K WITH FULL CORE FOR THE BULKHEADS AND STRINGERS AND THE KEVLAR/CARBON TO SAVE WEIGHT. THANKS FOR ANY INPUT. BRYAN

23elim,
Our Y2K's are pretty lite to begin with. We have layed up hulls with Kevlar before, but there is really no weight savings. Carbon fiber is another story. $$$. We have a light weight lay up already that is race proven.

Re: twin outboard Y2K FAST!!
Boat ran all across the board. No fuel in bow tank light on fuel in rear tank with the k-planes up and motors that where bulit by baker marine it would run in the upper 80's , with stock v8's it ran 78-80. i think that the best day it would run almost 90 on the speedo. I would think that the new bottom would be faster and the boat could be bulit lighter. I really like the new look and I think that if it is built ultra light and with the new 2.5 280's it should run around 90mph. But I might be all wet and it may only go in the low 80's . If I can get some of my old pic's down loaded I will post some pic's of my old red and white superboat. Does superboat keep info on all the boats that they built in the past, I would like to know how much my old boats weight. Thank you for the kind welcome.

Re: twin outboard Y2K FAST!!
There is an older (late 80s maybe early 90s) red and white Tempest with twin 300x here in the CT river.
The engines are mounted on the transom, no setback.
I have heard the boat runs in the high 90s...

Re: twin outboard Y2K FAST!!
Freeze Frame had a pair of Bridgeports I think, and he was hitting 93. He has stock 250's now and does a sodid 80 all day.

There was a 30 Tempest for sale last year in CT. Red with white parimeter stripe(I believe) for sale could that have been yours? It had a couple of Mercs on it in the for sale pic. Where are you from?
