Conn. River run
Hey Pat the babysitter going to be around long enough for you to make the river run?
Whats the date do you know? Anyone else? its a great run and perfect for the 21s and 24s mostly the scream n fly crowd and they are a great bunch! Jim |
Re: Conn. River run
Hi Jim,
It's Great to Hear from you Again!!! There's no need for me to come up with a babysitter this year; Mom does not go back to work until late November... :D As far as I know the date is October 21st. http://forums.screamandfly.com/forum...d.php?t=113724 Rich Owen has not started an official thread as of yet though. I'm quite sure that there will be a good number coming up from your area on the Island. I say we start in Old Saybrook early like we did two years ago. That way everyone gets to see about 10 more miles of the river... :D How ever we do it, the Scream and Fly guys are great hosts! |
Re: Conn. River run
Congrats on the new arrival Pat and I am definetely in on the run , let us know when the thread starts!

Re: Conn. River run
OK Guys and Girls,
Here is a link to the official thread: http://forums.screamandfly.com/forum...240#post969240 And Some of Rich Owen's Post: CT River Run 2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We're going boating (again) , want to come ? This is an informal gathering and cruise on the CT River . There are no fees to attend as this is just a little pizza party . We'll meet at Haddam Meadows State Park at 8 AM on Oct 21 (rain date Oct 22) . Come early so you can check out all the boats . Drivers meeting at 9:45 . If you are not familiar with the river you NEED to attend this ! There will be people circulating with clip boards . Please give us your name , boat/motor , phone # , and email address when you arrive . I get at least a dozen requests for contact info each year and this will help people get in touch with one another . To streamline this maybe you could have a slip of paper or business card with this info on it . Be prepared to cover 60 to 70 miles . Bring fuel if you need it (There is 89 octane available on the river) . *Please Bring And Wear Your Vests* ! There is a 45 mph speed limit on the river . There are about 5 "No Wake" zones we must respect . We'll head north 15 miles to a beach in Cromwell and have pizza delivered . There will be a bucket for donations for the pizza . Any surplus will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation . Please supply your own beverages . IMPORTANT !!! PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU ARE ATTENDING ( and how many with you ) BY OCT. 16 SO I KNOW HOW MUCH PIZZA TO ORDER . IF YOU DO NOT CALL OR EMAIL ME PLEASE BE PREPARED TO SUPPLY YOUR OWN FOOD . You can contact me at [email protected] or 860-223-6754 or 860-214-1667 . There are "Port O Lets" at Haddam Meadows and other ramps along the way . After lunch we head 15 miles north to Hartford then 30 miles south back to Haddam Meadows . We'll cook some burgers and dogs at the ramp at the end of the day . Any rain date info will be posted here by noon on Oct 20 . Updates will appear in this post . |
Re: Conn. River run
Tripps Will Be Riding Shotgun With Me This Year On The Tripp To Ct. On Another Note I Have Brakes. Who Would Think A 6 Year Old Trailer Would Be Getting All New Brake Lines. The Lights Are Another Story. Not Even Going To Try To Fix. Cut It All And Start Fresh. Having The Speedmaster Is Killing My Trailer From Lack Of Use.
|
Re: Conn. River run
It's great to hear Eric is coming with you Zup!
Trailers are not much fun to work on. I did the brakes and new spindles on my the Spring after I bought it. Last year new lights and wiring. Already the plug on the trailer had corroded apart... Go with the LED lights, at least you won't have to change the bulbs 2-3 times per year. |
Re: Conn. River run
Zup, not sure I can go yet, but if I do you can trailer out to meet me in Greenport and then run to Conn. Much easier than trailering all the way around/ and or taking a ferry.

Re: Conn. River run
Kendall
I would like to do this run also.. My plan is the same to trailer out to Greenport then run accross. As of now Tommy with the other 29 Progression with outboard is up for the run to. Hope you can make it. Sounds like we will have a couple boats running accross from Greenport then..... :D :evilb: |
Re: Conn. River run
Well, the 21st is my 40th B'Day, so I WILL be coming!!

Re: Conn. River run
Sounds like a plan. I probably will not go all the way up to HArtford. But I do hope it is a good day. The fall foliage should be good then too. Kendall can't wait to celebrate your 40th with you on the water. We will tip a few for the occasion... :D :D

Re: Conn. River run
I'd like to join in. I'll probably only run up to Middletown or Cromwell. I wouldn't be too big of a boat, would I???? I know this run is directed towards river rockets but since I live in the area.

Re: Conn. River run
100 Gallons Is Not Alot Of Fuel When You Can Only Get To Use 85 Gallons Of It. Full Is Never Full And Always Some Gas Left In The Tank When Its Empty. I Want To Do The Hole Run Without Having To Worrie About Fuel Issues. I Dont Think You Can Get 93 On The River. Im Trailering Up To Haddem Early Am And Not Going To Worrie About Time To Get Back On The Trailer. Its Getting Dark At 7 These Days. Remember I Trailered This Boat From Texas So The River Being Only 3 Hours Is Like Going For Milk. Anybody Want To Run Up Together. Leaving Babylon At 5am

Dan In last years "None River Run" (Do to the floods) I had the largest boat at 24' and one of only 2 I/Os in the fleet of about 20 boats. At the 2004 CT River Run there were (3) 30' Superboats and a number of other boats in the 26'-29' range. About 80% of the 90 boats were 22' or less outboard powered rockets though. IMO, it should not matter so long as you respect the little guys. Rich Owen over at Scream & Fly organizes the run. I don't believe he would discriminate against your 36' Cig. Please be sure to register with him though... |

In 2004, Jcap ran his supercharged 30' from the ramp in Old Saybrook to Hartford and back no problem. That is 75-80miles round trip. I think you can get 1mile per gal. No? I guess what I'm saying is that if you launch in Old Saybrook you get to see another 10-12miles, and IMO, the nicest 10-12miles, of the river. The party does start at Haddam Meadows with a look at everyones hardware though. |

Kendall I was talking to my buddy who lives out there in Southold. He had a good suggestion to leave from the Ramp on the North road in Mattituck. THis way when we come out in the Sound it is basically straight accross. What do you think? Don |

From Orient point to the month of the CT River is only about 12miles. There is a boat launch at Orient-by-the-Sea... |

Thats not a bad idea either.. But the launch in Greenport is really good. Either way it is only a couple mins from Greenport to Orient point. Can't wait hope the weather stays good..... |

JC's engines have a tendency to blow up Bravo's.. Just put my second gear set in the lower last week.
|
Re: Conn. River run
Hey guys ,
I m going to do the Conn run but will be leaving from the North shore so I wont be with Superbash's convoy. I am leaving from the north shore , my business is on jericho tpk about 1/2 mile west of 135. I plan on leaving at 6 am If anybody wants to follow. The coffee will be on me and I have 93 octane if anybody wants to fuel up. I hope to meet with Patrick at the same ramp as last time, Old Saybrook right Pat? Pat, directions again and what time are you going to be there? and yes thats the best part of the river! Mike if your going to 135 anyway call me and we will hook up Jim |

Re: Conn. River run
GAry. Thread is Ct River run. Are you coming or not ???
JCAP. We can meet on the L.I.E. . Come on. Remember how much fun it was with 6 of us doing figure 8's in theMcdonalds parking lot last time ??? http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/5652/bashhj7.gif |

Yes it does. Imco needs to step up and make some stronger gears. I put a hand throttle in my boat this week. Hopefully I will be able to control all the torque better with it instead of the foot throttle. Time will tell..... |

I have to drag my boat home for a bath and oil change so I may just put in there as well. Anyway, I think we want to be in the water by 9am to get to Haddam with a few minutes to spare. Directions to the boat launch under the I-95 bridge in Old Saybrook are: I-95 north to exit 67 (old Saybrook, CT) Bare right as you come off the ramp, there is a fork. At the end of the ramp go right. Then get into the left lane as you approach the traffic light. Left at the lights onto route 1 north. Follow route 1 past Ocean Performance (Big Go Fast Boat Dealer). Then take a right onto Ferry road. If you don't turn right, you will end up back on I-95. Follow Ferry road around past the marinas, then under the I-95 bridge. The boat launch will be on your right. I would recommend to Zuperboat and any of the other larger boats coming, to use this ramp. It is about as nice as I've seen anywhere. PE and Titan, If you hit the water in Greenport around 8am, you'll be at the I-95 bridge before 9am for sure... |
