George,

I have a 24' that I use as my car in the Bahamas and it currently doesn't have tabs. It needs them! Narrow hull, cross wind = lean... lean to much and you're slappin a flat bottom!

Tabs! The bigger the better! I have 280 K-planes on my 24 I/O. I wouldn't want to be without them.

The Avanti needs the tabs going across the lake with a crosswind.

Superbash took them off his boat because he thinks they scrub speed. Maybe they do on his boat with the 18' setback. I'd say 280s or the equivalent are the way to go. I use them all the time in the rough.

I believe Gene took his 18" setback off... in some of his later photos of his boat I don't recall seeing any setback.. On my 24 I had the 280's and loved them. My observations were no scrubbed speed when all the way up. They were a big + in crosswinds or with passangers.
