Twin Y2K?
Is there any pics of the twin boat out there.
What are the numbers John said it ran 80 |
I think there is an old thread somewhere with pics.
It had twin Merc 6.2L small blocks shoe horned in with Bravo drives. I did a search back to 2005 and can't find it. I'm sure FX-10 has pics. |
Thanks I have a customer that was wondering.
Anything to sell another Suprerboat. Way toomany Scarabs here! |

A pair of 383s w/ bravo's from BAM are like 10-11k a set... $22k total. Not too bad.

Rick, how was the balance w/ twins?
Also, w/ the new hull, and those 383s (325hp@shaft/390tq) you could probably hit upper 80s w/ no drive failures whatsoever. |

I agree, that staggering the engines would be great if you can retain the back seat... |

What do you guys think of a Y2K twin 383's/325 HP with a pair of Arensons Surface Drives ???
|
you should be breaking 90 w/ that combo.
not too far from there w/ bravos too. |

Two of these in a full stagger would make for a wild ride!

Come on Rick, No Comments?
You do need another custom boat project, right? I can see it now, the build of SuperBabi II. Twin 500HP small blocks with Arenson drives...:cool-smiley-027: BS'n about this might just get us through the winter...:D |
Hey G,
I know you're a Merc Guy, but this is the small block of the future. http://www.gm.com/explore/technology...LY6_Marine.pdf Merc has yet to start using these but others such as Crusader and Marine power are. I've seen them in a number of high performance ski boats... http://www.pleasurecraft.com/ http://www.pcmengines.com/60.html |
but is there any love between fx10 and rik/asd?:hitfan:
|
If you build it they will come:D

Hey G, I'm quite sure that these engines are service all over the country; they are optional power on just about any inboard ski boat. What I'm not sure of is if 2 of these hooked to ADS drives would give you enough to push a 30' Super over 100. If you have a shop that does all your service and will continue to do so, you probably ask them what/whose custom power they can do warranty work on. I’m talking small blocks because I think Rick can make them fit in a short stagger without loosing the back seat. |
Pat, just think of the ROOSTER TAIL following the Y2K with twin ASD 's !!!!!!

Those are nice. 385 hp & 400 ft-lbs of torque. :ernaehrung004: And they only weigh 540 lbs. Plus they'll turn between 5500 & 6000. Oh yeah, and they run on regular unleaded.
Coupled to an ADS they are going to be less than I/Os. Maybe you don't need to stagger them... |

The owner is very happy. Saw him at the Patchouge Race. Says the boat is running 84. I don't think he's selling it though.
