Twin Y2K?

Is there any pics of the twin boat out there.
What are the numbers John said it ran 80

Pat McPherson 10-02-2007 11:42 AM

I think there is an old thread somewhere with pics.
It had twin Merc 6.2L small blocks shoe horned in with Bravo drives.

I did a search back to 2005 and can't find it.
I'm sure FX-10 has pics.

pi75 10-02-2007 12:22 PM

A pair of 383s w/ bravo's from BAM are like 10-11k a set... $22k total. Not too bad.

Stormrider 10-02-2007 03:05 PM

Rick, how was the balance w/ twins?
Also, w/ the new hull, and those 383s (325hp@shaft/390tq) you could probably hit upper 80s w/ no drive failures whatsoever.

pi75, I like the 600sci in so far as its Merc Racing, Great Motor no real problems in 270 hours ( 3 seasons ) However 82-84 mph just aint cutting it anymore. I NEED MORE POWER.....................Faster is always better !!!!!:D

pi75 10-02-2007 08:45 PM

Superbabi, I finaly finished work. Since i got on this site I have been falling behind with everybodys boat.:hitfan:

We have talked about this at length with Rick. It would take a lot of custom work on his part. Maybe after the new 30' CC?
I agree, that staggering the engines would be great if you can retain the back seat...

pi75 I really like the 700sci/NXT PKG. But, the 700 in my hull is not gonna push her into the 90's.

Superbabi 10-03-2007 04:05 PM

What do you guys think of a Y2K twin 383's/325 HP with a pair of Arensons Surface Drives ???

Stormrider 10-03-2007 04:52 PM

you should be breaking 90 w/ that combo.
not too far from there w/ bravos too.

What about a pair of whipples on top of the 383's ???

Pat McPherson 10-03-2007 06:12 PM

Two of these in a full stagger would make for a wild ride!

1100 HP in a Y2K, with a pair of Surface Drives , how fast ???:D

Stormrider 10-03-2007 09:41 PM

those are 25k a pop. + 15k per side for asd?
113mph.

but i kinda like those 383/bravo packages from BAM.
2 for about the same price as a 525/xr.

Pat McPherson 10-04-2007 07:18 AM

You do need another custom boat project, right?

I can see it now, the build of SuperBabi II. Twin 500HP small blocks with Arenson drives...:cool-smiley-027:

BS'n about this might just get us through the winter...:D

Pat McPherson 10-04-2007 08:04 AM

Hey G,
I know you're a Merc Guy, but this is the small block of the future.
http://www.gm.com/explore/technology...LY6_Marine.pdf
Merc has yet to start using these but others such as Crusader and Marine power are. I've seen them in a number of high performance ski boats...

Those are nice. 385 hp & 400 ft-lbs of torque. :ernaehrung004: And they only weigh 540 lbs. Plus they'll turn between 5500 & 6000. Oh yeah, and they run on regular unleaded.

pi75 10-04-2007 12:58 PM

Full stagger BB /ASD loose the back seat and put the kids
up front for a Bad ass family boat

Pat yes I do like Merc. ( I grew up with every thing merc ), However if there is a new Y2K in my future, I will not rule out any other product on the market with a Proven Track Record. As long as I can get the motor/drive serviced at the shop I use. ( Warranty Work ). Hey Rick, as Pat said any imput on this set up ???? :D

I'll give you the staggered BB/ADS, but no mid cabin stuff, and there's no way my kids are riding if the front of any rig that goes over 40...:p

Pat McPherson 10-04-2007 01:38 PM

Hey G,
I'm quite sure that these engines are service all over the country; they are optional power on just about any inboard ski boat.
What I'm not sure of is if 2 of these hooked to ADS drives would give you enough to push a 30' Super over 100.
If you have a shop that does all your service and will continue to do so, you probably ask them what/whose custom power they can do warranty work on.
I’m talking small blocks because I think Rick can make them fit in a short stagger without loosing the back seat.

Superbabi 10-04-2007 01:43 PM

Pat, just think of the ROOSTER TAIL following the Y2K with twin ASD 's !!!!!!

PCM lists them at 930lbs with a trany.
Coupled to an ADS they are going to be less than I/Os.
Maybe you don't need to stagger them...

Never heard anything from the onwer, Rick ???

FX10 10-04-2007 05:10 PM

The owner is very happy. Saw him at the Patchouge Race. Says the boat is running 84. I don't think he's selling it though.
