I would definitely welcome the help Jeff.

I guess since we are turning the prop up to 6,000 rpm, we need something a little smaller than normal, and I would guess with more blades. And since we have a lot less weight at the stern, and more weight in the bow, we need a prop that's going to give bow lift. I think surface drives also tend to drive the bow down, so this will increase our need for bow lift.

That's all I know about props, right there. You can take over from there.

Dino, those rear fuel tanks are going to be holding like 1000 lbs themselves, plus the weight of the tanks and enclosures. So in all reality, you have around the same weight, maybe alitle more then a big block in the stern of the boat. I'm thinking the forward tank should be bled off first, from there, there should you should have noo problem with bow lift. The new hull on the Y2K doesn't have a problem with bow lift.

The white is on !! That pick is only the second coat one more to go !! I have to pop another cold one first. Drinking and painting go hand in hand. 1 cold one is just the right amount of time to tack up !!

FX10 03-21-2008 04:22 PM

That hatch looks Sweeeeeet! I need to see the rear view with those cool outlets.

I have different diameter props and pitch for big shaft.Start off by finding what diameter the boat likes with its attitude then prop for RPM.

z.zuperboat 03-22-2008 06:03 AM

Rick I will take some more picks when the next color is added and the grill and doors are in. The HVLP gun does save on paint !! Doesnt make much of a cloud either. You can see it in the picture.
For the turbine boat I would stay between 17 and 17.5 in diameter, 4 blade and pitch is anybodys guess. The trimmable drive is going to make things interesting.

FX10 03-22-2008 06:52 PM

Come on Mike. A hundred or so more ponys will get you well over 100. You might have a tempest deck, but your the first with a Y2K bottom. ;)

Jeff, I was talking with Pete from MRD. He says the Turbine should be ready to turn key by Friday. Get them props ready. I can't wait!

The Motors off the dyno. Zul worked his magic and it picked up a few ponies. Worth every cent. The dyno was by far the cheapest HP upgrade ive ever made.

That should push his boat nicely.
Is that one of those new 5.0L Whipples?

So Mike, are you and Eric going to come east to run with Kendle, Gary H, Anthony, Gregg and I?
We had 14-15 boats for our boys trip to Block last year...:drink:

z.zuperboat 06-20-2008 10:11 AM

I am not the king and thats not my motor ! Its Ritchies new blower. Sounds coooool . Im more like the court jester.
Pat I think yes its the new 5.0L. But im not really sure how big it is. Not really up on whipples. Block HMMMMMM

z.zuperboat 06-26-2008 07:51 AM

Up a few; that is 3-5, no?
You were running low to mid 90s last year so 100 is not out of the question...:evilb:
My boat will get a test ride this weekend weather permitting...:drink:

Pure Energy 06-26-2008 09:12 AM

Pat, Let me know if your coming across. I'd come over there but I will be on the deckboat this weekend.

Titan 06-26-2008 12:14 PM

Kendall

If you are around stop by the dock in Dering HArbor. Just look for the green hulled center console up buy the bridge left side of the harbor at the end...

z.zuperboat 06-27-2008 04:43 PM

Pat the prop I tried is not for sale, it worked well . Put my slip at 5%. and 4 more mph than last year. Im sure more time and better water it would have been even more. Had to bring it back. I took a road trip and pick up 2 props. Have to test them sunday.

Slip at 5%, that is a great number!
4 or 5 blade?

z.zuperboat 07-01-2008 06:03 AM

The 5% slip is with a 4 blade. The 5 was better in the midrange but upstairs it tended to push the nose down. To much stern lift. I was able to get myself a 4 blade to thats clean but doesnt work all that well. High slip numbers ! It has to be sent out for some work to make it better.
