I guess the step hull must like a different prop....

I ran a 28P bravo right out of the box. 496HO (425 HP) @ 5000 RPMs = 78 MPH

I ran a Mirage+ for one season and it was terrible. I couldn't keep it hooked up in rough water and the boat chine walked all over the place. Plus, there was no real diff. in top speed over the Bravo 1.

Just bought a stepped 24 with a 320hp 6.2mpi Boat runs and handles good. Only getting 64mph at 4600 rpm (1/2 tank 1 other person in boat) with stock 26p B1. Wheel is a little beat up so i was thinking about upgrading it, any suggestions???

How many RPMs is that motor rated for? I would think 4800-5000. You might want to try a 24 bravo to get the RPMs up. Your current slip numbers are a little high, 15%. You should be able to get that down to 12%.

I ran a 26 Bravo when my 24 had the 454 Mag (385 HP) in it. So, you might have too much prop.

It says max WOT RPM is 4800-5200

Everyone seems to be raving about the rev4, should i give it a shot or go like 2 pitches down on the B1???

thx...

The B1 worked great on my boat. I'd try a 24 b1. I remember Jim H saying that the 24 Super he had w/300 HP ran 68 MPH.

I tried a Mirage+, but the boat chine walks and the prop blows out in rough water.

The boat takes some seat time to get used to. The trick is get it balanced on that v-shaped pad. A good steering setup helps. I noticed with my 24 and now with a 30, they don't need a ton of trim. Mark your indicator where the prop shaft is parallel with the bottom. Maybe a hair above that is where I find the best speeds.

Got in some decent chop today and was able to get 4850rpm but no increase in speed-- hitting a wall at 64mph. I have access to a 23p Rev4--- is it worth giving it a shot or way to small??? Also I'm used to the steering but was thinking of upgrading it---- would an add on do the trick (single or double ram?) or should i not waste my money and go for the full hydraulic????

thanks for the advice Dave...

It can't hurt to try that prop. As far as the steering, I would opt for a single ram, full system, over a dual ram add-on.

I wouldn't waste my money on an add on, if you're going to do anything about the steering. Single ram is plenty up to mid 80s on the 24, imo.

I think the 23P rev 4 will be too tall, but it will get you a feel for how the prop works on your hull. Guys with steps like the bravos, so a 24 Bravo might be the ticket. I think a 21 Rev 4 would be in the right rpm range also.
