OK, I got the scoop from the man himself. I visted Superboat Saturday and spoke to John. The 24' is not changing any time soon its' a classic that has been around since the 60s. As for the 30', he sold 9 boats the first year he changed the deck design vs. only 2 boats the three years prior to changing. I guess the modern look is in.
Just missed you Jim, sorry about your engine, at least it's under warrenty

Darn
I'm sorry to hear that. I really wanted my next boat to be a Superboat. The few friends that I have that are into bigger boats rave about their build quality and I like the fact that they only carry a 7' beam. On the 24' thats gotta mean something like 20 sq/ft less of friction area not to mention the weight savings. But I just can't get my eyes around that deck. I grew up on the West coast custom scene and still like that sleek, smooth look. However, I can understand John's desire to retain the integrity and history of this boat. That's part of the reason that regardless of what 'big' (no laughing now) boat I have, I'll always have the flatbottom parked next to it.
Thanks for getting the word directly and setting the record straight.
