Gen's Shop is right behind the Clinton Napa on Rt 1. Small 2 man band...
He builds mainly short track sbc, but did a set of 540s for Ocean Performance last year.
I had him rework a set of heads for me...

hey guys, pat my engine is 2 seasons old now,it was a brand new gen 6 502/502 that i bought thru affordable marine in portland,i know jim down there thru a friend. the engine came from liberty marine in mass. it is a full marine motor with crane cam169611 (576-598 lift)and all the springs, roller rockers ,etc are crane. it has an aluminum "zues" hi rise single plane intake with the bronze water passages, and a custom nickerson performance holley carb. exhaust is thru lightning headers. pat, i measured my x against your pantera, and mine was 2 inches deeper. from an older forum i posted ,the pantera guys said my propshaft should be no more than 4-4 1/2 inches below my hull, mine is 7 1/2! this boat originally came from the factory with a 350/alpha set up in 1990,so i don't think it was set up to be a rocket ship. i've really got my hopes set high on this x dimension change. it is a rocket out of the hole and midrange, but top end it feels like its being held back, wot is 48-4900,raisng the x should give me 2-300 rpm easy, which should put me 52- 5300 rpms. i also just bought the thunderbolt 4 module for an hp500 carb,i was running my old 350 one , hopefully all the little things will ad up,i know i've got the makings of a fast boat, its just getting the set up down perfect.

Condor24,
Sounds to me like you have done your homework.
Your boat may have had an Alpha SS drive, I think they were shorter... My Superboat X and Pantera X were about the same.
Your engine has the HP500 cam and headers so you should be making lots of power.
If I can help with anything, let me know.
Post a few shots if you've got them.
As far as I'm concerned, your welcome here on the Superboat Forum...

Pat,
I didn't know the name of Glen's shop was GCR. Glen seems like a good guy. I have a 67 396 Camaro that I was having a problem with, I went to his ship to pay him to do a quick job for me. He did it on the spot and refused to take any $ from me. I've sent him tons of business since. I'm going to need that 396 rebuilt soon, he'll get the short block.

BTW, I was looking at the river this morning... it's pretty damn high. Can't wait to get on the water!!!

Bob,
Come on over anytime; I'm exit 5 off rt. 9 so 30min at most.
SS930,
Glen was recommended to me by a marine mechanic friend and a car racing friend. Does seem quite knowledgeable for a young guy.
The river is a swelling, snow up north is melting, spring is 10 days away...

hey pat ,i measured the distance between my stringers, looks to be approx.30 inches, how wide is that engine mount you have? i talked to a local race car engine builder and he is going to come over and measure my cam lift and tell me what i have. i have a bad gut feeling this isn't the hp 500 set up i ordered ,but a 415hp 502,guess i'll know soon it would explain why my topend results aren't adding up,talk to you soon, bob
