hey chris, i'm happy to here you once owned a condor ! i was beginning to think i had the only one in the area - well actually maybe i do i'm usually on the river every weekend after memorial day, we hang out in hamburg cove.

hey pat, i just got a part time job at between the bridges marina so i'll be going by your exit alot, i'd like to swing by and buy that motor mount from you one night , email me your address or # and a good time to call. ([email protected])
i got my motor checked out, and it is an hp500 clone with the crane hp500 cam. the engine builder recommended swapping out the present cam for the crane 168731, he thinks that it will help the power band for my boat by smoothing out the bottom end and increasing the mid and top end, i might as well do it while the motor is out, i wouldn't mind having the heads pocket ported ,but its not doable right now with the paint work and transom job underway, maybe next season!

Hey Condor24,
Good news on the engine! Not sure you will notice a difference between the HP 500 cam and a 731, maybe on the dyno... The 731 cam has a wider LSA 112° vs 110° so it is less likely to cause reversion, but I think you said you are running Lightning headers. No reversion problems with those babies...
Drop by any time for the mount. I am only 10min from Between the bridges.
Good Luck with the rest of your work! Any idea when she will be ready for the H2O?

YIKES!...Just came home from Philly...saw my old boat at Blue Lightning in Greenwich..what a travesty!!..the guy I sold it to trashed and thrashed it!!..It should be a crime. That thing was perfect when I let it go. He blew the motor, smashed the wind shield, ripped and stained the "new" upholstery and lost the trailer. The hull, however, was spared the abuses. The new guy's doing a heck of a job putting it all back together. Hope to see him out on the sound soon.
Did you post any pictures?
Good luck this season "Superboaters"
Chris

Worked on my boat again tonight, three days in a row...
Engine is in, the out drive is on, and thanks to great phone support from Shawn, the guy I bought the engine from last year, it is now running too...
This fuel injection stuff is a real PIA though. The engine does not want to idle below 1000rpm, it surges like mad...
I guess it is one of three things, the idle control valve, the new ECU calibration, or the engine does not make enough vacuum below 1000 with the new cam.
Anyway, she will be ready for a test ride this weekend regardless of how it wants to idle...

Anyone else getting closer?

Hey Patrick,

My motor surges a bit when I run it on the hose. It idles fine but when I increase to about 1K rpms or so, it surges. It does not do this when it is in the water? I am on a well so maybe it's because the water is so cold.

Hey ZZ,
Good to hear your on the job now...
Care to share how close your prop shaft will be to the bottom...

Dave, you may be right about the cold water thing.
We have city water that is not much above 40°F.
The engine does struggle to get up to temp.
We'll see if out in the 50°F CT river water will help.

Anyway, I did speak to AZ Speed and Marine today, and they will tweak the program for both high and low RPM. I just need to get on the water to see if she will rev under load. Lets hope she revs 300-400rpm more than last year!

I am going to give the MPI three chances. We already have strike one.

I have ZZ's old Dart intake and a 750cfm carb sitting on the shelf, ready to be bolted on at moments notice...
