That "black thing" is gonna be the "only thing" I keep... OK, since you got your ruler out...now for width measurements...I'm telling you, I just re-measured & came up with 6'-7 1/2" widest outside points.

Hey Super,
I never measured the widest point, but I did measure for my swim platform.
If my memory serve, and is does not often, the transom was less than 70"...
Narrow boat indeed.
Are you planning to sell all ready? You're sounding frustrated...
70mph with a 250HP on a 24' boat is pretty dam good.
The cracking, well that is not acceptable, but I have been there too.
Broke every boat I have owned, with one exception; a 1978 Cig.

Just ran her in some chop (pic) and some flat stuff with motor 2 1/2" below bottom. She definately goes straighter but top end is not there still with my 26 Trophy & 12" setback. Hitting 5800 easily and beeping. Boys, I think the 18"setback and a 27 or 28 4 blade is gonna get some good #'s flat or chop

1st tried to lower the motor down to the transom and couldn't do it, who ever originally installed the motor, didn't drill the matching holes on the upper and lower part of the bracket should have 4 hole adjustment i had 2. So no change in performance. mounted 12" setback in original transom holes motor all the way down(1/2 below pad)no performance gain. Regrouped, took -superbashes-advice and remounted the setback 5 inches lower(drilled new holes) so the propshaft is now 3"below pad.gettin closer to the sweet spot -26 trophy, three people 1/2 gas with chop- 72.6 gps. now were havin fun, got to claudios 845pm and missed everyone.more tweekin for the weekend.keep the tach in the black!

FASTXXX
- Your transom must be built for a 25" motor like mine & someone hung a 20" on her if you needed to go down 5".
-Glad your speed is improving. Trial and error unfortunately is the only way. Stepped padded hull vs. strait V both have different traits and require more prop for the stepped "ventilated" hulls. Also, I am now running 2 1/2" below pad , handling is best yet (no chine walking, no fighting the wheel). I am waiting on a 27 in the mail and I went with a 18" setback which required re-drilling of the bracket and drilling ( adding) two more thru transom bolts (uppers). Plus lengthening steering hoses and fuel & oil hoses and stretching cables. Over $1K
. It never ends. Like I said, I am still learning more about the different 24's than I ever thought.

Hey Guys
Just x-perimenting with the new 27TrophyPlus. Getting ready to go back out after I raise the motor 1 hole up. Just ran 71.0 at 5500 with a bunch of trim. This is one of my last things to try before I become satisfied with the setup for all around good performance & top speed. At least the ramp is empty today. I have been making multiple launch's this sat. morning.
-FASTXXX?...Waiting on further reports from ya'.

THE CONCLUSION:
- Stepp hulls
just won't fly
without much + trim.
- I like
the overall performance of the 26 better than the 27 . The 27 lowered my mid range cruising rpm. Going up with the 27 higher yielded me less bow llift, less mph & low h2o pressure.
- 71.0gps - 26Trophy- 18" setback-5800rpm-trim to let fly
. Holeshot is awesome. Ruff water handling & flat water is both excellent.
- Game over.
