October 16th, CT River
Hey Superbash,
Do you have any more info on the CT river run October 16? Maybe we can convince sb30, Dutra, and that crazy Donzi driver George to join us. It sounds like JMK will attend, and I'm in, so Superboat should be well represented... I hope the leaves hold on, it's supposed to go down to 45° tonight. The river should be full of color that weekend. |
Re: October 16th, CT River
Hoping To Make The River Run If Possible.stupid Question Where Is It And Where Do You Put In For It. A Time Would Be Good.and Whos In Charge Of Clearing The Logs.
|
Re: October 16th, CT River
Hey Mike,
It would be great if you came up. Superbash should have some details for us. From what I know, it is at Haddam Meadows state park. The park is on the CT river 15-18 miles north from LI Sound. Great starting point for a tour south to Essex or Old Saybrook depending on the temperature. You can launch at the park or at my marina if you like. |

Re: October 16th, CT River
Sorry to hear that ZZ...
I have been taking some heat on this one. My wife thinks I've had enough runs with the boyz this summer. I am still planning to attend, but only if Superbash or another Superboater is going to show... |

Re: October 16th, CT River
I just read a little about the run; didn't realize that it is a run north to Hartford.
I guess that is a better direction for the smaller boats. Do any of you LI fellows plan to stay over Saturday night? Haddam Island is a great place to camp out. It may be a little chilly in October though... Also, there are a number of nice places to stay along the shoreline. I would be happy to run the southern part of the river with some of you that do decide to stay until Sunday. The river from Haddam south is quite different than north. I my opinion much nicer and more scenic... |
Re: October 16th, CT River
hey pat,

Re: October 16th, CT River
Hey Jcap,
The Saybrook Point Inn is right on the water in Old Saybrook and as nice as it gets. There are three marinas right there for dockage. In Essex there is the Griswold Inn right in the center of the "Best Small Town in America" also two marinas for dockage... Jim, Both of these towns are right on the CT river but a bit south of Haddam; Essex about 10miles, Old Saybrook about 15miles. In East Haddam there is the Gelston House that is also vary picturesque, however no dockage. I keep may boat in Chester about 7 miles south of Haddam. I can get you a spot for your boat at my marina in or out of the water. The Inn at Chester is vary nice but not on the water... Give me a shout if you like, home number (860) 767-0797 |
Re: October 16th, CT River
Just got info for the '04 L.I. Hot Toddy Run from Charlie T. himself :eureka:. It's been pushed back to Oct. 16th   !!! Run will be to Smiths Point Bridge...wait for us slow guys (me)...then back to Bayshore "Molly Malones".:drink: Must decide.
Wanted to do both runs....:o |
Re: October 16th, CT River
It's looking like we will be taking delivery of our new SB on Oct 15, and would stay in the area for a run on the 16th. I'd prefer to not to have to tow 3 hrs but will do so if most of you will do the CT run. On the other hand, a good showing of SB's in the home area would work better for us.... who's doing what out there?

Re: October 16th, CT River
Thanks Pat I will giv you a call,
superbash and krac, I have done the hot toddy run a few times, some amazing hardware always appears , some of the hottest on the east coast! It is a short run and a bit chaotic, there are some very fast boats (RECOVERY 150 160mph?) smaller slower boats tend to get no respect, not that that ever stopped me before, but im going to give the CT river a shot, Ive never been and always like to try a new spot! congrats Krac on the new boat! maybe we can still hook up when you pick her up Jim |
Re: October 16th, CT River
the hot toddy run isnt going to the bar in westhampton this year???
|
Re: October 16th, CT River
JCAP...I've heard the same from Tripps & others also of the toddy. But Charlie Tesauro & Joey Impresscia assure me we are welcome & wanted. & yes it is short. I'm still on for Ct. Originally the toddy was Oct. 2 , so Krak woulda missed it. It would be a lot simpler for him. Krakemeup Y2K vs.Team Rudden?
- I"ll see by the end of the week if anything changes...300X tomorrow (you guys are sick of hearing that, I know...) |
Re: October 16th, CT River
Hey ex-ghost...nope...I"m just passing on what I was told by charlie last week at EastCoastMarine. If I go out Wed nite you can hitch a ride at Tanner.
-You like the SUPERBOAT forum huh? :D |
Re: October 16th, CT River
I think the people in the area of the bar stopped them from entering the canel, they went nuts last few years! dam i would love to have that much hardware in my back yard, but they didnt appreciate it , and call the cops every year. Charlie and Joey are both great guys and always made me feel welcome, but some of those guys in thier million dollar water rockets are well a bit stuffy(rafting up at the bar"your NOT tying that to MY 400,000$ skater are you) but its a fun run, Tripps and ZUP you guys wanna try CT river?
|
Re: October 16th, CT River
JCAP...ZUPER mentioned he hadda be home by 6pm that day & was contemplating launching in Mattituck ...shooting across the sound & up the river & then back down for time sake.
P.S. 300X for Bash...300 posts for Bash!!!... |
Re: October 16th, CT River
Unfortunatly,i won't be around that weekend again :( :( :( Tripps
|
Re: October 16th, CT River
hey bash whos puttin ya mota on...
|
Re: October 16th, CT River
Matittuck is about 35miles from the mouth of the CT river.
I think a great option for a 30' Superboat; for a 24' it can be a rough ride. Plan on a 1 hour ride up the CT river to Haddam though. There are 4 no wake zones and two of them are quite long. Anything I can help you LI fellows with, just ask... |
Re: October 16th, CT River
Sounds like most are going to do the CT run, we're looking at the maps now, trying to figure a plan. I don't have a lot of time off for this cammando run from Texas to LI and back, but we definitely want to do a run on that Sat.
|
Re: October 16th, CT River
By Land or by Sea?
So who will get to Haddam Island first? ZZ and his group of 30s (Jcap, Krank, and Zuperboat) or Superbash and his crew of 21s and 24s? |
Re: October 16th, CT River
I just figured out the total for the run,Leaving mattituck 25 miles across to the mouth of the river then about 20 miles up to the park ,then 30 miles to hartford. Then back on one tank of gas.NEVER HAPPEN.100 gallons doesnt go very far anymore. And 89 doesnt cut it.What time do they usualy make hartford and start heading back?
|
Re: October 16th, CT River
Hey ZZ,
Is that 25 knots? I think it's a bit more that 25 miles, but at 80 it does not matter much. 100 gallons not enough? Boy, I only burned about 60 to your house and back (200miles). As for the need of 91+ octane, 3 or 4 gas docks with it in old saybrook and 1 in Chester. Portland / Middletown may also have it... I don't know the timing of the event, but I don't think you'll be home by 6pm. |
Re: October 16th, CT River
OK, if all goes well, we're in! We can go the water route, but we may have to leave early (be back on the road by 2 or 3p), so we'll need to think about options.
|
Re: October 16th, CT River
hey pat,
thanks for the help just booked saturday the 16 at the saybrook inn, is there a ramp near by? we will spend half the day sunday. you up for being the tour guide? we have never been in the area and are lookin forward to it , no kids or dogs this trip! we will trailer it up early saturday morning , who is coming from the island ? superbash ? zup? the sound can get pretty snotty in october and i also burn alot of fuel! so we are definetely trailering, krac is kinda pushing it if he wants to leave by 2 or 3 maybe he should just trailer it and leave from CT.NOW ALL WE NEED IS ONE MORE GOOD WEEKEND! |
Re: October 16th, CT River
Hi Jcap,
The Saybrook Point Inn is at the mouth of the CT river and is about as nice as it gets. Do you want to keep your boat in or out of the water Saturday night? The closest launch is under the I-95 bridge about 2miles up river. It is a free state launch and is the best spot to launch on the river. The CT river run starts at Haddam meadows state park about another 15miles north. My boat is in Chester half way between the two. You can launch at any of the three quite easily. I am happy to be your guide from Haddam meadows south. When we run north of Haddam, we'll just keep it in the channel. I have never gone past Middletown so this will be new for me too. The leaves are just starting to change here. It should be a beutiful ride... When the time gets closer, we should get a game plan Jim. Talk to you soon, |
Re: October 16th, CT River
With having to leave so early, we've decided to trailer to Saybrook (Saybrook Point Inn sounds good) Friday evening assuming all goes well at John's. Where and what time Sat. morning would be best to meet you guys?
K & RA |
Re: October 16th, CT River
Krakmeup,
I believe that Jcap and Superbash are traveling to CT early Saturday morning. I'm not sure where they plan to launch. We have a couple of weeks to get a plan together. Please let me know if I can help with any arrangements. |
Re: October 16th, CT River
hey krac, if you are planing on the saybrook inn call now! the had few rooms available!
And yes my wife and i are planing on leaving early saturday morning hopefully with superbash and anybody else ? superbash, we gotta plan to meet somewhere and maybe find a few scream and fly guys who know the way , i know several long island guys went last year, and dam you seem to know everybody!! Pat, we got a room and slip for saturday night so we can play sunday, how close is the park the run starts at from the hotel? I am hoping to leave the boat in until sunday and figure a way to get my truck from the ramp to hotel and leave the trailer somewhere , any help would be greatly appreciated, and maybe we can do a little exploring on sunday, either way we can talk next week and make some plans! superbash, If next wednesday is nice maybe we can talk at tanner |
Re: October 16th, CT River
Hey Pat,
My name is Anthony Mone' and I own a 24 Pantera and live in Brookfield Ct. I have been reading your posts on this Ct. River run and was wondering if this is A Superboat only run or if you guys would be opposed to have a Pantera cruise up the river with you all. I had mentioned it to Full Throttle and he would also be interested in joining in the fun..Let me know what you think... |
Re: October 16th, CT River
T-Mone...What up... the more the merrier as far as I'm concerned. However..do me a favor & check the scream&fly thread
http://forums.screamandfly.com/forum...threadid=54016 From what I understand, all are welcome. |
Re: October 16th, CT River
Superbash thanks for the info, look forward to it, see ya on the 16th..
|
Re: October 16th, CT River
Hey Superbash,
Looks like you got something big started... T-Mone, Another 24' Pantera (Vitamin C) from Deep River/Old Saybrook is thinking of joining too. I believe he is a friend of Full Throttle's. Jcap, Old Saybrook is 17-18miles south of Haddam. If you can get to the Old Saybrook I-95 ramp by 8-8:30am, you can launch and drive up the river to Haddam Meadows with plenty of time for the drivers meeting. That way your truck is close to the hotel. If you launch at Haddam Meadows, we'll figure anther to get your truck back to Old Saybrook. You definately want to drive your boat to the hotel. Hey Bash, Are you staying over Saturday night? See You All Soon, |
