Default Question for Y2K 30ft SB owners

Can you give me some feedback about your experience with the boat?
Performance w/ power.
Ride quality (maybe compared to a 24 SB).
Ergonomics.
Finish.
Interior.

This boat seems very reasonably priced. What other boats were you looking at and what made you decide on the Y2K.

If any one else that doesn't own one, wants to chime in... please do.

Thanks for the input.

Hey Storm,
I believe that a 30sb is a vary different animal than a 24sb or 24Pantera...
I ran with SB30 and Jcap twice this summer and in the rough there is no comparison.
I crossed the Sound in 3'-4'rs at 60mph side by side with SB30. We were hanging on for dear life while Scott and his crew were sipping ice-tea...
One thing that seems amazing about the 30sb is how efficient the hull is.
While the hull is some 1000lbs. heavier than a 24sb, it does not take a lot more power to run the same speeds.
A 24' will accelerate a little quicker and have a more nimble feel, but in the rough the 30' is in another world...

Read the threads from Crackmeup and his Y2K. I happen to work at Superboat, and build them. They are an excellent deal and they handle rough water like you wouldn't believe.

What made me choose the Y2K???

What other boats was I looking at?

First off, my criteria was to stay above 30' due to the kind of chop and rollers we see in our bay - I've heard from and been in too many shorter boats that would handle it ok for a day, but to own and contend with that ride long term was not for me.

Next, at 30' you are at the performance edge for a single. I know there can be lots of opinions on this, but I am speaking from a point of view of reliability and not getting radical on performance - we boat 200 hours EVERY SEASON here, and high-end engines last about 400 - 600 hours so do the math - I wanted good cruising range (3500 rpm) with rough water handling and comparable top end if I needed it. Current gps at 3500 is ~52mph, and I haven't learned how to optimize tabs still. I wanted to be able to do my own service INTHE BOAT. My SB does all this, gets over 3 mpg, costs LESS than a used 'other-brand' same size, has a warranty, is shiny new, is unique, and has race-proven heritage. What's not to consider?

To answer, I looked seriously at used/new Cig, Velocity, Profile, Fountain, Sunsations.

The wait, while (whining) tough, was absolutely worth it. Time will tell for quality, but talk to Jcap or others on that. I cannot understand why people are not flocking to John with orders - but I am biased now

Good luck, feel free to contact me if you want more, or better yet come to Houston and take a ride - door's open for any potential buyer......

Krak, thanks... thats just the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

And w/ 1/2 a brain, and 3 weeks earlier... I could have just of met you here in NY.
Good luck w/ the boat and keep us updated.

I'm rebuilding my 454 to about 450-480hp. It would be nice in a year or so to take it w/ me to my next ride. And I agree 30ft is about the longest you could run a single in... plus 7ft beam doesn't leave much room for twin I/Os.
