If you want the warrenty then get a bigger factory motor...
Custom 598= 40K
Merc 850= 85K
You could have a spare motor and still be ahead
It's all relative... if 80 is fast enough then you can have a nice long warrenty, to go faster you have to give something up. Your not going to hit 100mph in this hull with standard factory motors.

I won P-5, finished 10th overall with the assitance of Laveycraft's AMF/Raylar Brian Devlin as navigater. POPRA's first race of the season. Brian had some problems with his boat so I asked if he wanted to be a passenger in mine. We had a blast!
We ran his numbers and sponsors (AMF/Raylar 513) on my boat so he could get points if we did any good. The race was from Long Beach to one end of Catalina Island, run along the coast to the other end and back to Long beach harbor. Approx 75 miles I was told.
I had to keep it under 75mph the whole race so I did not breakout of class. That was a little challenging itself. The Superboat was impressive to Brian, I and many others. To me, It was not that rough out there. Some boats were getting alot of airtime.
I want to thank Rick (FX) for building such a great boat.
Brain Devlin for a so so, navigator
Kevin cooper (Team Lavey, POPRA)for the last minute race entry.
John Haggin (AMF) for the great race sponsorship
