I originally had it setup with a 12" S.Marine setback...but when I felt I needed more setback...I got the 18" (shoulda got the 18" swimplatform version )....& hadda extend everything.

Re: Early 80's 24 superboat

looks good :D What did it cost you to extend everything? Not including bracket.

Re: Early 80's 24 superboat

HYDRAULIC STEERING HOSE...$100
LABOR FOR HOSE...EXTEND OIL TANK HOSES...& STRETCH THE WIRING HARNESS (didn't need the 5' extensionharness) 2hrs.
-BRACKET was $600...& I did the install originally.
-TOTAL 1K.
-NOW...The BEST PART IS I HAD A 25" 250 motor....Now I WENT WITH A 20" 300X...hadda lower everything 5"...:(

Re: Early 80's 24 superboat

oh well...it will be worth it. The superboat I saw is the one you posted about on screamandfly, you said you did a run with him in CT. It's the red and white 1981 with a 300 on it.
How did the boat look in person I have only seen pics? I figure for the right price I can sink some money in her!

Re: Early 80's 24 superboat

Honestly...be careful. Definately have a surveyor (FX10) do a moisture test on it. The boat needed a good cleaning/waxing. Other than that...just make sure all the wood is good. The motor is a 2000 25" mota on a 20" transom...its not right. Also...not sure of the motas' mechanicle condition. The owner used to come on this forum (30SUPER)...but I met his dad at Ct. Riv Run ramp...but he didn't run the boat...he was just showing it (on trailer).
-Man...the things you can find out on a computer!!! :D

Most likely who ever had it built either wanted them or didn't. Nice thing about custom built.

Some have the hatches, some don't. I've seen late model 24's with them. I don't hang out in my cabin much so I never felt the need to have them.
