What year is your boat?
How does that Blackhawk drive work vs. a stock Bravo I on a 24 Super?
I'm installing a 502 in my 97 24 this year...

The boat is a 1996. I bought it two years ago with 104 hours on it and I love it! The blackhawk drive has pros and cons. The pros are the drive throws a killer rooster tail when your running. It also cruises at 50mph at 3000 rpm. The drive trims above the boat so I can get in shallow water. P.S. when boating on the south shore everything is shallow. Cons.. when you put the boat in gear it lunges forward quickly, it doesn't back up well and when idling down the river I am passing most boats because there is to much prop in the water. Hope to see more superboats around Ocean Bay Park.

Whoa...
I'm still in...get a rough # to me and I'll see what I can arrange in Saybrook.
The parking lot nextdoor is huge, for us trailering people, the bar there is ok, too. The inn, itself, should be able to handle at least a dozen of us+.
I've had that date marked since before this recent ice age!

Lots of nice places to hang in the CT River: Essex Harbor or Haddam Island would be 1 and 2 on my list. Just would depend how far up the river you fellows want to travel...
As for SPI, let's let Christian tell us what would be best. Yes, they have a bar... :drink:

Hey gang..

The bar next door to SPI is better than the internal bars...
HOWEVER..if we (and kraks video) were the main event...I'm sure our numbers($$$) could pull their weight.
Want me to look into a private room/video capabilities/cash bar?..like a business meeting?
Still need a rough number...
Pat, can you think of anywhere else with ample dockage, within a few miles up river? All I can think of is harbor park....They love out kind...but it's a haul..

as for sat...meet at the ramp under the I95/baldwin bridge in old saybrook..
plenty of parking and toilets...a good start/end point, and a nice facility...for sunday, the same thing..it's central to boat/trailer traffic..

But I do here you.
We'll blast around in the sound then maybe a raftup at Knot island accross from Essex.

For overnight dockage, there is between the bridges, Harbor one, and Saybrook point marina. I have a good connection at Harbor one.

Gotta go to work now, the boss is looking over my shoulder... :eek:

I called saybrook still 1/2 the place is empty for the 11th. rooms start at $300 a night plus $4 per foot for docking thats another 120 plus taxes about 500 for saturday nite. Can someone call the harbor inn for rates?That will leave 50 for fuel and 300 for booze. I like the meet idea at the ramp under the bridge. Tentative time?

The Saybrook Point Inn is the nicest and most expensive place in town.
tripps picked it, but there are others places for less.
There is a Days Inn or Holiday Inn, I'm not sure of the name, but it is close to the ramp too.

Yeah...there is a hotel near the ramp...and 2 other bars...i think it's a comfort inn....the saybrook fish house is near it, and there is/was a bar/marina next door to the ramp...it's not as classy, but the slips might be cheaper..

i can't do anything there unless i can offer up some firm numbers....i think that's why we were looking at the other hotels near the ramp.....lower cost, more flexibility. if someone wants to send me a committed head count and a plan/idea, i'll talk to them....

No doubt that the Saybrook Point Inn is as nice as it gets, however, it's at lot of $$.
I think that the comfort Inn is a good option for those of us that don't want to spend $300 for a room...
Also, being that we are planning for both Saturday and Sunday, some will do Saturday, some Sunday, and some both.
Tripps and I are planning for both... :D

ZZ will be trailering to Old Saybrook and Tripps will be coming accross the Sound.
Depending upon how warm the weather is will help us deside how much running we want to do in the Sound and how much of the CT River we travel... :D

So long as we all get together, we are going to have a blast!!! :drink:

aren't there 2 hotels in the area...the one on ferry rd, and the one you can see from the hi-way? the one on ferry rd is walking distance from the ramp...maybe btw the bridges or oakleaf will have a deal for us......a PR thing for the good of the cause? then we can shuttle down to/ or shuffle back from the waterfront?
i'm all for trading fancy room money for cold beer money!
