WHERE ARE THE SUTPHENS ? State your location

I have one of the only Sutphens in my area. I haven`t seen another yet, but heard that someone has one on Lake Lewisville.
In a conversation with a guy from Conneticut, I hear there are quite a few on the upper east coast.

So Sutphen owners, where are YOU ?

I`ll go first :

TEXAS

South Florida. There is a 39 that lives in Deerfield Beach but it doesn't make it off the lift very much. Yeah, most are in the MA/CT area.

Didn't they have a Sutphen run a few years ago up there?

My boat was bought new by a gentleman in New Hampshire. He used it on a fresh water lake there for more than the first half of it`s life.
Christine Sutphen told me she saw my boat at some type of Sutphen Rally a few years back. Maybe that is what you`re talking about.. . . ?

I saw your boat in the classieds Dave. VERY VERY NICE !!!

Why are you selling ? What are you planning on replacing it with ?

How well does that 26' ride in the rough ?

Thanks for the compliment, HP.

I may sell her cuz we have a newborn, and money's a bit tight with the wifey staying home.
The SoCal housing market is ridiculous. I'm paying about $15k per year in house taxes. Yes, that's taxes, not including the mortgage.

Anyway, I'm not real serious about moving her. If an offer comes in, I might take it.:drink:

As for replacements? At some point I WILL buy an older Magnum 40'. Room for the family, a little speed and a WAVE CRUSHER!

How does the 26' ride? A lot better in the rough than I do!
Every time I say "Oh chit, this is gonna hurt" she just knifes thru and flys. She says back to me "don't be such a wuss, and give me more throttle!":evilb:

Seriously, I'm still figure her out. The waves off Dana Point CA are pretty wierd, and this is my first "big" boat. I try to keep her pretty level in the 2-3 footers at about 50mph, and once in a while I scare myselft at 70mph. Not rushing to get hurt out there, so I figure I'll build up speed over a few years. Kinda like riding motorcycles. It never hurts to progress. Been riding for 15 years before I tried an open class sport bike (Ninja ZX-10R). It's still hard to remain calm on a bike and not get cocky, and I feel the same for boats. Always gotta be on your game!

Damn, I'm ramblin' here. Anyway, gotta go feed the boy! Laters! D911

Two more here in Ontario, my 20 and 26. I purchased the 26 used in New Hampshire and saved it from the Winnipesaukee speed limit laws. Most you see for sale are located in Northeast, Florida and a few in the Great Lakes area.

The first Great Adventure Sutphen is in NH, it hasn't seen the water in about 20 years.

My father's 2nd 30 is owned by board member "Rosebudracing" in NJ. The 2nd picture is when he owned it and the 3rd is how it looks today.

Here in connecticut with a 1988 -2 300 hp mercs- put in the river for its maisden voyage last week- it is awsome. Boat was never rigged since new in 88 and I just completed it recently. Expect to hit in the 90mph range when finally tweaked out. Boat is a 32 ft. with a stainless marine bracket.

Back to NY, 1972 Sutphen Gran Sport started out on Lake George NY in the early 1970's, then Lake Mead NV until 2005, and recently now home on Moriches Bay LI NY. Still running fast, always a head turner.

Boy scoundrel looks good!!

I have had a couple of requests as of late for pics and progress of the old Miss Maxon (33' outrageous) which Wstultz and myself are putting together in Texas. Been steady working on the motors and drives (staggered big blocks and speedmaster2's) since i got her. The interior doesnt need much, 3 man bolster and no cabin and depending on how fast she is, is how much i will spend on paint but she is currently "Barney and bumble bee tuna colored" thats right purple and black and yellow complete with powder coated purple drives AND motors. Dyno this week and rebuilt drives are going on this weekend maybe. Here are the pics, let me know if anyone has any old ones of it i would LOVE to have them.
