looking for info on 1979 39 sutphen race boat
I'm looking for any info on a 1979 39 foot sutphen race boat named "bad frog",its painted green, has innovation 510 bbc's in it with stellings headers, dual 4bbl's,#4 drives on boxes, race hatches,3 man bolsters,on a dually gooseneck myco trailer. Who owned it,where was it ran, assuming the motors are 600 hp how fast would it run? How much would it weigh, how fast would it go with a pair of 1050 hp motors? A friend who owns a body shop is buying it,its supposed to be coming from the chicago area. Assumming the stringers and transom are solid and everything works what would the fair market value of it be?
Does anyone know if its ever been wrecked or sunk or had major repairs or problems to look out for? It supposedly was raced from 79 to 81 then sat for a long time in storage then (the info I'm getting is third hand) the motors were worked on by innovation in the late 90's and other work was done since then to bring it back to running condition but the pictures make it look dated to me (dual 4bbls were a thing of the past). I have the first shot at buying it from my friend BUT I'm probably going to pass because I really want to upgrade to a boat with a full cockpit and a cabin but I'm still going to go take a good look at it when he has it in his possesion. Thanks for any responses,Smitty

Smitty give a call down to Sutphen in Fla. (239) 574-1155 and they can probally answer some of your questions. I would guess mid 70s W/ 600s mid 90s W/ the 1050s. Innovation has built some winning motors. I think those carbs need some blowers under them to look right.

What do you want to know? It use to race under the name PleasureSeeker. I don't think the trailer comes with it. I could be wrong though. The owner is a very close friend. I have the pics email me at [email protected]
