jeff, you fixed? I Had the carbs doen and there was still some miss to the engine. So Like an idiot I had the guy at the shop take look at the stator etc. He cleaned up some connections etc and the spark looked much better (now jumping almost 9/16) but when we fired it on the hose it went straight to 2400 rpm at 0 throttle input. So we found out the timing was doing it (wicked advanced and jumping all around). We checked some more and He said it was the trigger unit so I ran down to niantic grabbed a trigger, installed it, same problem. So basically he says he has no Idea why its doing this right now. He's gonna take a look at it in the AM and see if he can figure out what went wrong. Looks like even if I do get over there it will be late or by fountain. By the way I saw tsunami pull in today at Ocean performance. What a sweet ride. The tow rig wasn't too bad either.LOL |

you had trouble too?
I still don't have a running boat so don't feel bad. It went to the mechanic running and came back unusable.LOL |
Hey Guys it was great seeing you all again.
Dan & Ken...can't wait to see what you guys did to Tsunami! Hope you liked the pictures of the new 21. Steve..it was nice seeing you and your 34 Outrageous. Hope you didn't have any trouble with the ride back. Pete...nice seeing you again also. Thanks for your invite in a few weeks, but I'm not too sure Audrey will join in the festivities...hee.hee. See you all soon. Hopefully we'll take out the 21 and will have some performance numbers. Ron |
Hope you guys had a good run today I was to busy to make it out there.
30ctsutphen I don’t know what engines your running but if you changed the trigger, don’t have any loose wires and still have timing jumping around and running to the advanced side. Next I would check the top bearing under the flywheel. |
All in all it was a fun day.
Thanks to Steve for showing me the way over. I basically re-traced my GPS track on the way home. Let me know if you need a good mobile mechanic for that pulley. Dan & ken, thanks for leading me through Plum gut and for helping tie-up. Ron, I'll shoot you an e mail with all the party details. Steph says thanks for the shirt! I got my azz kicked on the way back. It was washing machine 3's and 4's for 60 miles. |

Next I would check the top bearing under the flywheel. I am running 200 carbed mercs that were built by matt kieser. They are basically built to carbed pro max specs. The boat was Dean Cusanos old ride. It ran OK but was stalling and having idle issues. Ran like an animal once in the trottles though. I figured be safe and have a mechanic look at it before the run though since I was gonna be pushing it. Well after running in circles I basically have a non running enigine and the boat is back at my place. I just need to retrace the steps, match the other engine for wiring and do some testing of parts, Its gonna be tedious but I think I can get it fixed. I am new to outboards but I have been drag racing cars since 1987 so I Think I have the basic foundation to get it done.(I hope) I will look at that bearing thanks for any input. It killed me to miss the get together but I wanted to get this thing back home and get back on track. Jeff |
