Hey 40, I didnt know you guys are the ones who bought the balamos old fountain.

They are good friends of ours.
Small world I just found that out a couple of weeks ago.

Morgan,

They get a real nice turn out. Its fun to run with all the S&F guys that can out run any of our big vees. The new 21 would fit right in. I heard the SSX is killer in person! Def try to get Jim to show up with the 31. Im going to try to come back from school and run Tsunami most likely. Its a great event and a great way to end the season. Hope to see you guys there so i can get a look at the new 21's since i have yet to see them in person.

Dan

It was a real nice boat. The boat was well taken care of but the motors were questionable. We lost both of them so we had brand new motors in it before we traded it in on our Hustler. It got looks where ever we went with it. The boat is pretty much destroyed stiiting up here in RI. Its a real shame that it ended up the way it is now. The old Fountains were hard to beat......well if there were no big Sutphens around!:D:D

Gladhe8er 09-25-2008 07:12 AM

There were a ton of boats last year. LOOOONG lines at the ramps. Over 80 boats I'm guessing.

I think we all start with small boats..then we buy larger boats...always wishing for a small boat again!!!

That's why I like the run..looking at all the smaller "hot rods"!!!

ChristianGott 09-25-2008 05:18 PM

Hey! that's me in post #8
no rain date this year?? they must owe the gods a favor.
is the shotgun start due to the long lines at haddam, or the river gestapo?
i'll be at the OS ramp, USCG approved, sporting a 45 mph rev limiter and ready to cow-tow to the man..........

"we can't drive 45"!!!!!

30ctsutphen 09-25-2008 08:19 PM

The haddam meadows ramp sucks for big boats and everyone knows it. all the bass boat a holes wash out the ramp loading with thier engines at 5K rpm.

I will be loading at portland most likely.

My boats up here in simsbury, although it would be good run to meet up with you boys in OS

Not sure if my brothers going.Hes down in OS still.

40 ICBM,
The fountain is sitting and messed up?

That sucks. sorry to hear about the engines

They are pretty honest guys I dont think they would have sold it with engine issues intentionally.

Who owns it now?

30ctsutphen 09-25-2008 09:31 PM

this may be relevant for the ct river run.

nyone know anything about the new lifejacket law for the state of CT?

I saw a quick story on TV last night about it.
Sounded to me like it was october to may only and made anyone in a boat underway wear a lifejacket.

batboat 09-29-2008 08:49 AM

Long story regarding the Glen Cove run C. I entered but blew an impeller in the harbor over near glen Cove. I got a part and had it fixed 20 minutes after the others left for Bridgeport. I tried to play catch up, but by the time I pulled into Bport harbor, I was too late. I saw you and that outboard Sutphen coming out of the harbor. You must have seen me ...I was right next to you for a hot minute. I found out later most of the smaller boats didnt run over to Bport. I think I was the smallest boat that made the run over there(maybe 1 27 Activator made it there). All in all, only half the boats went to Bport I heard.

I plan on being at the river run in my Dad's 24 Progression. it is black and blue and named "BARFLY"...can't miss it. My boat is going in storage after the Lake George run next w/end.

Oh, BTW, "batboat" is one of the guys that fixed my impeller. He knows his way around an engine room! 509 CI whipple power in that bad boy!

prosno 10-02-2008 06:26 PM

Fisrt time for me, I'll be there cant wait to see this:evilb:

ChristianGott 10-02-2008 06:47 PM

glad8..
I KNEW that was you!!..boat looked great, sounded awesome...seemed to run real nice in that slop! where's your dad's boat kept?
pros...
how will you get there?...i'm just over the hill in northford, maybe we could caravan? 203 687 6688
dan/ken..
i'd lay odds on the gladiator on the river, but the sut in real h2o..a father and son challenge?
c

30ctsutphen 10-02-2008 07:50 PM

Gladeater, we thought that was you in bridgeport.
C and I (out board sutphen) almost ran over there but figured youd make it over our way( if it was you) since you knew the sutphens.

would have been cool to run three in a row for a while in that water.

We had a good day.

Only saw 9 boats or so in the bridgport area and you werent very far behind th pack maybe 10 minutes max.

C portland marinas launch i just off rt66 in the middletown area near americas cup.
Nice launch

For those going to haddam meadows be careful of the ramp it gets realy washed out and your trailer will drop off the end of the concrete and when you go to load you'll be S.O.L.

You'll load croocked or possibly not be able to load at all with a bigger (25 and up)boat.
I may load down OS if alot of offshore guys are loading there.
It would be a cool run up river.
Too bad we dont have someone to video from the bridge.

Gladhe8er 10-03-2008 07:06 AM

I would have stopped to chat, but I was trying to find the other boats to run with! There were about 23 boats entered in the run...I guess only the hardcore went to Bport! I think I was out of the water 1/3 of the time, as there were some nice rollers the whole way over.

My Dad keeps the Progression on its trailer in his driveway in Norwalk. I usually launch out of Stratford.

Here is a pic of it. Hopefully I will see you guys at the CT run(I have to get out of a prior commitment).

What a beautiful sight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

30ctsutphen 10-03-2008 10:27 PM

C and I were catching some air as well.
We had a good fun run over to bridgeport.
I think thats the most fun I have had in this boat yet.

we were cookin pretty good in those rollers and they were spaced out perfectly for jumpin.

The river run should be fun but cold BRRRRRR.

I usually head up Rt 68 to durham, Randolf Road to Rt 9 and get off exit 7, go over the bridge and right by the goodspeed, take a left just past Goodspeed and launch at the Salmon River launch.
What ramp do you usually use? i might just try a different ramp if you use a different one, I know haddam meadows sux for a boat my size so I dont use it.

ChristianGott 10-04-2008 06:01 AM

hey pros...
i'll be going down 22 to rt 1, quick stop in branford to drop off my kids...then i95 to saybrook..never thought of the 68 to 9 thing, i'm about 10 min from 68.

30ctsutphen 10-05-2008 03:30 PM

It sounds like there all meeting up in rocky hill. I know you guys were thinking of launching in OS and that would be a cool run ,but its gonna burn some fuel running all that way andmessing around and then running all the way back down.
Is there still fuel docks open in mid oct?

how many guys are actually launching in OS?

OL40SVX 10-05-2008 03:44 PM

We will be launching in Saybrook. Gas docks should be open still on the river.

James Gang 10-08-2008 08:20 AM

Hey Jeff

I'm planing to come. Ill see you there. How far of a run is it from Old Seybrook to the farthest point we are going up river, as I have about a 130 mile range on a tank of gas.

Thanks Jim

30ctsutphen 10-08-2008 09:09 PM

Damn maybe I need to put some more timin g back in the tune. I have the engines set on economy right now at 21 degrees.LOL

Can you say slow!!!

I would be lucky to crack 70 right now.

I cant wait to see all the sutphens together we deffinately need a sutphen group pic at some point.

Man do I love those tripple 300's that is such a sick ride.

I would be happy with twin 300's on my rum runner.

The more I am around these outboards the more I appreciate them.
You dont even have to run anti freeze through them just tilt them back and go.

ChristianGott 10-09-2008 03:10 PM

brett..
glad you're going...going 95 to rt 9?
