What kind of power are you looking to get out of those? Can you reliably make 500+ hp out of a supercharged small-block? It seems like that might be the best of both worlds...

blowers are the way to go
i hear there is too much haslte with turbos.
i just sold a set of 144 b&m that might have been perfect for this project.

Man Thats not at all what I am seeing. Turbos arent any hassle if you know how to run and tune them.
Just look at drag racing and street cars. Turbos have revolutionized the whole street car seen. 7 and 8 second street cars are the norm these days.
Job spetter tuned this boat and my buddy worked for him for 8 years. Thats how I got into turbocharging many years ago.
I cant believe more guys havent gotten on board with this but I understand that so many guys got burned with the old SLUG draw thru set ups. They all still say they are trouble based on those set ups of the olden days. It gave turbocharging a bad name in the boating world but TURBOS WILL outperform a BLOWER all day long! Very few people will ever dispute that fact.
Its a low loss system because the exhaust gasses are a loss no matter what the set up where a blower has losses at the crank from the belt.
we make 1000 HP effortlessly with 2 bolt blocks and pontiac stock 40 year old cranks for 4 or 5 years. How unreliable can that be?
I dont want to sway your opinion but I do want people to at least look at them as a vaible option get educated on them and then make an educated descision. Not just base it on what happened with 20 to 30 year old technology.
Your boat would be a show stopper with a set up like this instead of being just another blower boat.
If I didnt 100% beleive in turbo power I would keep my mouth shut!

yes the 8.5 compresion ratio is perfect for turbos.
I run my pontiac with 8.25 compression, Its a 455 .030 with a 2 bolt block, cast nodular Iron crank with good radious cut on its journals for strenth, I run CAT H beam rods and a solid cam. I spin it to 5800 RPM and it runs in the 9's gets 17MPG on 93 octane pump gas with a 88MM turbo and a Gen 7 DFI.
I will post a link to one of the GTO's I sold a turbo to. its almost my exact set up

The car on the Pontiaczone website is carberated and runs a CSU carb, carbs by brent are also killer
