OL40SVX 10-16-2009 08:45 PM

Just to let everyone know if you havnt read the other threads, the run has been moved to Oct 25 due to terrible weather! See everyone next weekend!! Now off to go test Tsunami if we get a break in the crappy weather!:D

30ctsutphen 10-16-2009 10:57 PM

I am out for the 25th.

I have a race at E twon that day. Sorry one less sutphen in attendance

noyzee 10-19-2009 08:07 AM

do to the weather i put my old mans boat away as well. winterized it friday, so now my boat and his are away, so im a no go.

30, you get your car tuned?
who is doing it?
my buddy Kevin (works out of east side performance) is an unreal FI tuner. he does gen7, big stuff 3, etc etc etc.
if you need help, let me know. im not big on the gen7, i use HP tuners on my car.

30ctsutphen 10-19-2009 08:16 AM

I did get it tuned at least for the event at E town. I was gonna have Job Spetter from Turbo people tune it but he had a wedding to go to and a race this weekend so My buddy Chris who worked for turbopeople tuned it for me.
We spent 3 hrs and 20 gallons of fuel tuning on sat in the street.

I cant run that fast this weekend anyway, No liscense, No suit,ETC ETC my home track lets me skate by but E town wont I am sure.

Its gonna be the first day out in almost a year anyway so 10.00's will probably seem fast again.lol

May crank up the boost last run of the day though.

May take you up on the tuning at some point.

30ctsutphen 10-19-2009 08:29 AM

Hey Hoyzee do you wear a 3.2A/15 suit or a 3.2A/? suit

I saw on biondos site that turbo, NOS, or superchraged cars must wear a 3.2A/15 suit WTF N/A doesnt need that TTP 60 rating.

I mean its for our own safety but Its alot of CASH.

MOst guys I talk to arent running that spec even with turbo supercharged cars running gasoline. seems only the alcky guys are wearing them.

I run a 5 jacket and pants.
i run the 3.3/5 gloves
shoes also a 3.3/5
neckbrace the same and my helmet is an snell sa2005
and i run a helmet fire skirt as well.
safty first, but i dont think the better suit will help.

a couple of us tried it out one time with my old single jacket. i put it on had a couple extingishers and we hit it with a few drops of wd-40 and lit it up.
it went up as fast as anything and did singe the hair on my arm!! so i wouldnt want to hit a hot fire with anything on. lol

30ctsutphen 10-20-2009 09:10 PM

Yeah even the 3.2A/15 has a very minimal fire time rating to 2nd degree burns
It was like 30 seconds or something rediculous.

Why did I give up drag racing and buy another boat???
OH yeah it was wayyyy safer.LOL

noyzee 10-22-2009 07:37 AM

haha, yea. i also have a fire system in my car. i have a nozzle under the hood and one pointed at my feet.
people as why not over my head. i say. fire is coming threw the fire wall as all my fuel etc is in a cell under the hood, so its pointed at my feet so my feet have time to hit the brakes. if my feet are on fire 160+ mph isnt easy to jump out of the car without stopping. lol

OL40SVX 10-25-2009 07:13 AM

3 Sutphen's from MA...

TSUNAMI from CT...

We think a new 21 is coming!!!!

Leaving Old Saybrook ramp around 10:00

Pizza in Rocky Hill at 12:30!!!

Weather looks great!!!

I need a fire system one of these days.
I keep a canister right on the center console pointed towards me so all I need to do it pull the pin and squeeze not even take it out of the holder.

I didnt make the river run yeasterday but I won my class at Etwon so that made up for it.

noyzee 10-26-2009 10:29 AM

how was the run? any pics???

30, how did you run? congrats on the win!!!

30ctsutphen 10-27-2009 10:59 AM

wow it is a OP I coudlnt see the rounded back in the picture. Very very nice boat. I like it alot and I like the fairing instead of the windshield.

Gives it a newer look.
What year is it?

What power?

The stripe on that boat really pops too. rember when there was a sutphen OP for sale up in mass (cape cod area) with twin blower motors for cheap$$$ on this site. What ever happened to that boat?

Jammin' 10-27-2009 11:23 AM

I'm sure he'll chime in here eventually. He posts over on boatfreaks a lot. It must be pretty healthy.

OL40SVX 10-27-2009 01:06 PM

Had a great time with the Sutphen crew as usual!! Yes Bill's boat runs pretty fast! Its was great meeting you Letterrip! You'll have to get your Sutphen ready for next year when we all do a run again. Unfortunately, we were going to run the cat but had a broken shift cable on Friday. Then on Sunday we run the Sutphen, got almost to the beach, and lost a motor! Talk about bad luck! At least we'll have stuff to do over the winter.:D So for the rest of the day, while my Dad went back down to saybrook to grab the truck and trailer, I jumped on with Ernie in the 31 Boxer. That boat runs amazing. It handled very well at 80+ through all the cross chop and huge cruiser wakes. Ernie really knows how to run a Sutphen! Morgan was there with the Blue boat also. He ran that boat beside us at 80 through all the cross chop running through it like a much bigger boat! It was also great to meet and see Jim Goodrich of Offshore Speed and Ski from back in the old days. Had a great time talking about all the Sutphen's he has sold over the years! He is going to help Sr try to sell the bigger boats again. We are all just one big Sutphen family!

Dan

OL40SVX 10-27-2009 01:09 PM

I think C got some video of all us Sutphen's running so Im sure he'll post that soon!

noyzee 10-27-2009 05:58 PM

nice pics!!!! i am going to try to do this run next year. depends when it falls.

30ctsutphen 10-27-2009 06:52 PM

It usually falls on the coldest wettest day of the season.LOL

letterrip 10-27-2009 08:41 PM

Quote-We are all just one big Sutphen family!

Yes We are!

I was amazed how mint Tsunami is! in person it has waaaaayyy more "pop" than any hi res picture will give on the internet.
That boat is worth holding onto. It's Sooo Clean. Loved the Top Kick also!
We'll have to get together again. it was inly 2 hrs. till i got home I actually thought it would have been 3 I should have done dinner with you all. bummer.

Brad - Noyzee ( you're coming with me next year on my boat! )
Shawns boat was sick! Talk about ''Set Up" that thing honks! never mind the huge rooster tail it throws! Awesome!
there could have been 200 boats, but just a half dozen sutphens is still what I would have remembered.

dave911 10-29-2009 12:08 PM

Quite a few Sutphens in the following album from S&F...

Brad - Noyzee ( you're coming with me next year on my boat! )

Dont have to ask me twice!!! you have to do a few runs with us, even if its on the big boat. do a little winggi or mysery. we are going to do a cape trip at some point as well.

also, the sabago lake poker run is probably the best run you will ever do and your boat is perfect for it.
you should go with us next year!! Me, scottie, john b, lou, mike (with the 36 sonic) etc. its a great time!!
