it will be this week:eek: I shouldn't jix myself:eek:. I almost bought one in 1990 blank I think they were 20,000 or so no drive no power. by 93 or 94 they were 85mph for 85,000 and a 100mph for 99,000. it will be a perfect fit boat was built for a single, the 30 sutphens would have to have there gas tanks replaced and turned sidways, stringers and transom done over so that adds up quick. but if someone wants one of the ones I was looking at pm me. erine knows where the one in RI is and I know where the other two are.

30ctsutphen 11-08-2009 08:58 PM

brought mine home today. Man I hate that cold weather

ChristianGott 11-09-2009 06:05 PM

props and drives off, trailer jacked up, motors filled, fluids changed, batteries and lifejackets out, wd40 everywhere, canvas secure....5 hours on sunday....what do southerners do with all their extra free time???

30ctsutphen 11-09-2009 07:22 PM

C what did you do for a cover?

I need to buy a new full length cover but no one has the correct specs for the rum runner that I can find?

ChristianGott 11-10-2009 07:05 PM

i use 2 hd poly-tarps...15x12 i think, end to end over the mooring canvas and run a brace from bow to windscreen...this year i'm trying to let air move better, so i opened up some venting, but put a sheet of plastic 10x30 between boat and poly tarp....should keep water from drizzling through the mooring cover and keep the little nasties off the deck...nothing custom here....guess that's why it gets cleaned off before the truck in the winter...:drink:

30ctsutphen 11-10-2009 10:17 PM

when you say mooring cover are talking about a cockpit cover Or a full length cover?

In the winter I have used my cockpit cover, Then a huge 30x 15 poly tarp. This year I think I am going to use some large PVC pipes to build a shelter for it and keep the tarp way about the boat so it gets a ton of air over and around it.
I can assemble and disassemble the pipes with some sheet metal self tappers.

We do this on the job for equipement sometimes

I was hoping the new garage would be built by now but no such luck. The comercial building I am working on and the new boarn are killing me time wise.

ChristianGott 11-11-2009 06:28 AM

cockpit cover...i tried the pvc thing, too, but there was too much flex for my liking, and i couldn't get the snow off the top..i like this new idea because i can easily use it all summer to keep things clean..i like simple..

Pat McPherson 11-11-2009 10:27 PM

Hey Chris,
Great Vids! I watched a couple of them twice.

For a winter cover I use a double tarp, no cockpit cover. I use nylon line and a few 2X4s to build a frame 2-3' above the deck and through the tarps over. Lots of air can blow through and most of the snow slides off.

ChristianGott 11-12-2009 03:56 PM

thanks...
does that frame rest on the ground or on the boat?
i'd like to store w/o cockpit cover but fear the water.
is the line to make "ribs" for the frame?
c

Black Wishbone 11-13-2009 05:50 PM

I am so jealous hopefully next year I will get to do more.

High Chris,
The frame is nothing more than (3) T type supports with towels ductaped on, a few lines, and 2 tarps.
I like to leave it so there's plenty of air flow.
Every now and then during the Winter my 6 year old and I climb in to hide from mom...:evilb:

ChristianGott 11-15-2009 03:58 PM

i gotta make me one of those....for the hiding!
she always checks the barn first...i'm running out of places...

30ctsutphen 11-20-2009 06:06 PM

anyone know tha actual rum runner measurements?
I think I am gonna buy a nice new cover since the prices have gone down.

Its too cold to go out and measure when I am sure soneone on here knows the sizing

ChristianGott 11-20-2009 06:45 PM

anyone who tries to tell you his is bigger than yours...(you can finish that thought...)...go measure your own, because you ain't gonna measure mine!!

btw...cold makes it smaller..

30ctsutphen 11-20-2009 08:45 PM

christian I think were talking about different things. Although it is true in both cases MINE is bigger than yours. LOL

I thought I boats had the exact dimensions at one time but I cant find it anywhere

ChristianGott 11-20-2009 09:38 PM

2 Attachment(s)
no, i'm pretty sure mine's longer....but just in case....data!

30ctsutphen 11-21-2009 03:44 PM

thanks chris, I appreciate the sizing (of the boat that is)

Its funny the option list doesnt show many of the upgraded items my boat has on it I wonder if they were added later or if that an earlier leaflet.
and can that O/B weight be after the outboards were hung?

Seems oftly light weight doesnt it?
maybe thats why my boat likes to fly so easy.

30ctsutphen 11-21-2009 03:44 PM

Is it just me or is that sutphen stripe upside down?
