What was up with backing out of a deal after a hand shake this morning?

sea2jet 03-02-2011 09:02 PM

R.on and I worked things out. Looks the the situation is resolved.

OL40SVX 03-02-2011 09:18 PM

Hope it works out for you Sea as it's a one of a kind boat!

30ctsutphen 03-02-2011 10:02 PM

Its a sticky situation guys I am sad to see it happen with a sutphen. Wish Ron would call me so I could hear both sides but so far nothing.....

I have heard sea2jet side from the very begining and sea2jet definately went all the way. He even had mike P. come up and scan the two etc. Bad situation

I had calls being updated on progress every few hrs.

I hope these guys get things sorted out its just bad mojo the way it is.

sea2jet 03-03-2011 05:49 AM

We worked things out. Thanks...

kreed 03-03-2011 09:35 AM

30ctsutphen 03-03-2011 08:12 PM

the whole thing just keeps getting more and more interesting with every update I get.

kreed 03-04-2011 09:53 AM

Well????????????/

30ctsutphen 03-04-2011 06:56 PM

Well its all sorted out now and we have a NEW sutphen owner in the group, Hes also a CPBA member.

The Cig guys are getting way out numbered in our club!

He ended up buying the boat out right without a trade and a for a little more money but at least he got the boat.

He is thrilled to be a SUTPHEN owner and just loves the boat, he says it makes his Donzi look wimpy in comparision.
I said Wait til you run it!.

That boat is a little muscle boat, reminds me of a Ac cobra on the water.

I am glad Ron worked with him and gave him the oppertunity to buy the boat.
The Sutphen Boys, Rickie, Morgan and Chris all tried to give him good options too which was great.

I cant say enough about the SUTPHEN Guys they are ALL super standup people.

Full Throttle 525 03-06-2011 01:41 PM

Guys:

Mike and I worked everything out. There was jsut some miscommunication that's all. He knew where I wanted to be and after we discussed it, we worked out a solution.

Everything is just fine.

As a result, he is the proud owner of the only 21 SSX. I will probably be with him when he spalshes it for the first time.

It's a fast boat and he will enjoy it for many years.

Up close and personal that boat will just take your breath away.

Rich Jr. is ready to build someone another or any other model he has.

I can't wait until someone steps up to the plate and asks him to build a 277. Now that is going to be one helluva boat.

Congrats to Mike on his purchase.

Ron

Full Throttle 525 03-06-2011 01:44 PM

Crap...Guess I'm gong to have to change my Avatar soon. But not that soon!!

Actually had tears as it rode past me.

blackboat 03-06-2011 02:14 PM

Congrats on the sale of the 21SSX. That is a great boat and congrats to the new owner!!!

OL40SVX 03-06-2011 02:24 PM

I have personally run that boat and its a bad a** ride!!

30ctsutphen 03-06-2011 04:44 PM

Yeah Mike said Ron was all a wel'd up with tears. That
suprised me to be honest. I Figured it was All business for you.
dont take that the wrong way.

Mike is happy, I assume your happy, and I am happy that everything went well in the end.

Its a great boat and mike is a really nice guy, Hell take good care of it, hes already talking about fixing little things.

We have become really good freinds since he started his search for the right sutphen and joined the CPBA. Oddly were also both members of another club and didnt even know it.

It was a cluster &%^$ there for a little while, but its all better now and thats what is important.

blackboat 03-07-2011 10:56 AM

Is the boat going to be used in the CT. area?

kreed 03-07-2011 01:06 PM

Congrats to the new owner. The Donzi is also a nice boat and shouldnt be a problem to sell.

30ctsutphen 03-07-2011 03:16 PM

Yes it will be a CT river boat, out of the haddam area!

Its already scheduled to go back to richie to be made PERFECT again.

As for the DONZI it is a nice boat, The new owner posted stuff about the sutphen on a donzi board and they all gave him SHEET about the boat. :eek:Typical CIG GUYS.LOL

I guess they were cool to him after they found out how FAST it was...:drink:

How fast is it? The Donzi Registry is a very tightly knit group of Donzi fans. It would be like Jeff coming on this board and sayin he sold the Sutphen and bought a Fountain! Prolly go over like a fart in church!

lol, you got that right!

30ctsutphen 03-07-2011 09:58 PM

Actually I was just bringing up that little story for your benefit K reed!LOL

It is a fast boat though and runs 85 MPH.

His Donzi is only a 5.0 and the sutphen is a 496 so Tough to compare the two in reality.

I have been looking at fountains lately though.:bsflag:

The only thing your little story benefited was your little ego :)
Are you SURE it runs an honest 85 with a 496? Can anyone on here verify that besides Sutphens biggest cheerleader?

30ctsutphen 03-08-2011 12:25 PM

The owner can and I will have my GPS in that puppy within a weeks time. I I can get it to run that number I will get ernie or Jimmy Knowels behind the wheel either fo them could get an extra 2 or 3 MPH out of a rock!

I can verify that on GPS. When I originally rode in the boat and drove a 32' Sunsation along next to it, he pulled away from me.

The fastest the boat ran was 86mph. I've been on it at 83mph and drove it at 80.

30ctsutphen 03-08-2011 03:51 PM

Its OK guys hes used to SLOW boats like CIGS so he has a hard time beleiveing in REAL NUMBERS.LOL

sea2jet 03-08-2011 04:58 PM

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the delay in posting. I appreciate all the support I received on this board. Ron and I finally got on the same page. He really didn't want to take my Donzi in trade and didn't think I was interested in buying the boat outright. Unfortunetly, I was in Georgia on a trip when we ironed this out and ended up flying back for a day to do the deal, and then flew back to georgia for my job. Hectic weekend but worth it. I have been detailing the boat this week and plan to send it to Morgan, mid April to look it over, with the intention to bring it back to when it was new. The boat really is awesome. I had seen the video on Youtube of the boat doing 83-84 mph. I think it's still on there. I was worried that the boat was run hard being a demo so we brought it to Mike Palumbo at Offshore Northeast and was pleased when I heard it had 90 hours and only .8 hrs from 4500-5000 rpms. About 75 hours below 3000 rpms. I plan on having Mike work on this boat in the future. Really nice guy.
The boat will be used on the CT river and trailered to Maine. We have a cottage on Great Pond. I'm hoping that it will be the fastest boat to ever grace that Pond. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone in the club and seeing what you think of the boat in person.

OL40SVX 03-08-2011 07:44 PM

Your in good hands with Mikey and ONE!! Look forward to seeing it on the river!!

Awesome score...Where's the "Great Pond"...I go to Maine, myself, but off the coast of MDI...best of luck, see you on the river...

sea2jet 03-08-2011 08:23 PM

Great Pond is just Northwest of Waterville, Maine. Really a pretty big lake but they call it a pond. It is actually the original "on golden pond". Ernest Thompson wrote the play. His mother lived on Great Pond and that was the basis for the movie. We still have the mail boat. My wife fills in during the summer delivering the mail to 109 docks. The film however was filmed in N.H. Closer to Boston and more convienant for filming.

ChristianGott 03-08-2011 08:30 PM

Cool stuff...maybe we can drag airtime up there for a romp, and then watch the speed limits be posted on that tranquil part of the world, too...i'll have to google it, sounds cool....but I hope your "new addition" makes more friends than it does Henry Fondas...
c

btw, where in clinton are you, we do duck island, thimbles and the like frequently...my mother-in-law gets a house in the summer down the road from DQ...and I run out of Branford.....

give a call..203 687 6688

oh yea, and join the CPBA!

Mike, I am glad things worked out for you on the Sutphen. I could tell you really wanted that boat. I read the thread on the "Other" site. May I suggest that you start a new thread over there when you have some seat time in the new boat. Perhaps your opinion will help confirm that Rich builds a great boat.
Regards, CHRIS

sea2jet 03-09-2011 12:58 PM

Hi Chris,
Great timing. I just posted a few hours ago on that site that I will follow up with pictures and information on their other boats forum. I want to thank you for calling and giving me some options as Jeff had mentioned.
I did have my heart set on this boat and I still can't believe it became a reality. I had the opportunity to talk to you, Ritchie and Morgan and I must say it was a pleasure. Everyone was so helpful. I look forward to meeting all of you at some point. We fly to West Palm all the time and I would love to visit your shop if you can make time for it.
I was climbing into the engine compartment yesterday so I could clean in there(amazingly I fit) and was floored by the quality of fiberglass work. Truly a work of art. In fact, when sighting down the deck or sides, they a perfectly straight. not a ripple, wave, absolutely smooth. Just amazing.
As I mentioned. The boat is always available if you have a customer interested. When I get the chance to start the new thread I will be sure too mention the terrific service I received from Sutphen.
