Looking for a 30' race o.p.
Hey fellas,
After watching wade restore 3 sutphen's... Geeeez I said to myself "self" I need to get busy looking ! Lol a 30 race is on my bucket "wish" list, and will give it a couple of months of an all out search. Then if nothing should turn up , I'll change my search criteria to a pleasure version . I just need to get back into a sutphen and boating again. I work to g.d. Much !!! Grrr So with that said, i am looking for my o.s.o. Brudda's to giving me a helping hand searching. I'm looking to have purchased and or be on the water for my 50 th b-day in July . I had to set a goal for myself so that their are no lam excuses, like I'm to busy working lol..... I appreciate your help and thank you all in advance. Jimmy |
That's 3 Sutphen redos. The 26 wasn't a total retro but engines and engine compartment got a face lift.:lolhit:. I may have a line on an o.p. there are rumors of a guy around here that has a hull but I don't know if it is a race or pleasure version. I will dig around and see if I can go look at it. It may be a shot in the dark but worth looking into.

Call Richie and ask him if he will build you a new 30' hull, deck & stringers. Then rig your own boat the way you want it. |

Really the 26' should make it 2.5 Sutphens :party-smiley-004: but in your case I'll give you the 3.0 score. At this rate, you could be the next Sutphen dealer :bunnydance:

As much as I would like to pull the trigger and carry a bank note, the current economical times are holding me back. Will see what the next couple of years bring, in the mean time a good ole classic will do for now. Like the O.P.'s tho "Round-Backs". |
Rich Sr. has a new 31 ,set up for twins, that can be bought right. A couple of 600 hp LS engines/Brovo drives should run deep into the 90's. It will be a 2013 boat. I have the same hull, with a single blown 572 that runs in the mid 90's. The light weight of the LS engines/brovo drives will give the boat terrific balance.

For me ... No ...

Didn't the red 30 pleasure hull that was for sale here last year have a race type dash in it? Could be wrong but for some reason I thought the gauges went right across.

Which one are you referring to ? This one.... both pic's same boat. Attachment 493642Attachment 493643 or this one ... Attachment 493644 |
We've got an old OP and it's a project, but it's not a race model. If by chance you want more info let me know.
|
Thats the boat (top pics) I was thinking of with the nice dash setup and no cabin door. Its around a 1982, now red and different bolsters in it than I've seen in any other.
I guess it would be kinda hard to read those gauges though, ah who need gauges anyways..........as long as it looks good. |

Okay dude. I haven't been able to see it yet but the Sutphen by me is the endless flight race boat which I believe is a 30. The guy wants $4000 for the hull on an aluminum trailer. The trailer needs 6 new wheels to haul it. FYI for you guys looking for a race hull. I have no idea what condition it is in but will try to go see it this weekend if possible.

Went yesterday and looked at the original " great adventure" nice project seems like most of the parts are there, really nice guy that owns the boat. He might need some help on exhaust for small blocks, I don't remember exactly what he said he needed!:lolhit:
|
I spoke with a friend this past week who has a ocean pacer he would be willing to sell.....
I can put him in touch if interested. |
How about the red one in Georgetown Ma. I think it was a project no longer underway.

14? that's a hoot!

Has / had fresh 420 which are prob piles or rust & dry rot by now. Boat has potential, but even @10 after interior ( starting to show age ) get motors prepped after a decade of sitting, drives, trans, dry a$$ bellows and who knows what else.....not a great deal
Paint was starting to fade but still salvageable with a good buffing. The 30' " clean machine" has been on & off cl Boston for a while now. Pics look good, shagadellic interior......old skool looking |

dual life lines and lifting ring stood the test of time even the windshield looks to be in good shape. Attachment 494513Attachment 494518 Attachment 494514Attachment 494515 |
It's hard to believe people let boats sit like that for years outside uncovered.
How much $ do you guys think you would have to spend to bring it back to life? |

How much $ do you guys think you would have to spend to bring it back to life? three Sutphens. And being the camera man of the photo's I posted ... He would have a comprehensive dollar amount on what He has seen. |
What say you Wade.
What would you charge someone to redo Endless Flight totally if the hull was solid? |
IMO, you'll be adding another 50k, no problem.
|
Considering that the boat has been in that position for at least a year, there is 4 feet of water under the bow, and I stepped through the floor in the cockpit. Also, there was a tree and monkey grass growing through the floor. I would say its pretty gone but you can always throw money at it. I only do projects for myself, sorry guys, u couldn't afford me if I didn't get to enjoy the boat. Lol. I would say min of $20k for glass and paint and that is without me seeing under the bow where the water was sitting.
|
I will say it would be twice what the boat is worth. That being said, none of us do it for resale, we do it because we love these boats. The guy that has already envisioned this boat done doesn't care that he will be lighting money on fire. Just my opinion.

Dude, never would have guessed you for an old school guy ; )
BTW, you now owe me a beer. This just surfaced on Craigs. Gary http://treasure.craigslist.org/boa/3659525138.html |

I was just going to ask about that boat. Does anyone know anything about it?
|
I like his add.
Sounds like he's been down the B.S. road before. |
