Does anybody have any pictures of 30' Sutphens? I am just curious as to the difference between mine and others. I only know of one other Sutphen in my area (St. Louis) and its a 34'.
Thanks for the help! PS. I have a Sutphen advertisement with a racing boat with Busch sponsor ship on the side and M70 as the number, can someone give me the model and year of that boat? |

Sink or Swim,
I have some and will pass them along.I have trouble with size so may take a few tries.30's became the 31 sometime around 1988-9.The hull was extended and a new deck was designed, which by the way is under going it's next metamorphosis. |
Thanks
You can always email them if you want to: [email protected] or posting them is great also..

In Florida we forget the boating season is over. Had posted another pic but either having trouble with "new" web site or AOL. Either way I see it didn't make it.This is same boat built for a Doc. Note the Race style dash which was not standard. A bolt on pod dash was the norm. Note the scoops on lounger which were needed because of the Hi "X" dim.

Here is a very unusual one. Triple OB. Note the "bolt on" Pod dash. This was stock (standard) Ocean Pacer dash.

Wow
Jeff,,,
I think our boats are twins cosmetically. Wow,,, thats the first time I have seen (my boat) in the water. Man I can't wait til spring... Jeff do you have any pictures of the berth? Since mine is still wrapped with shrink wrap I have never seen down under.. |
Hey sinkorswim, no pictures of v berth. Has cabinet w/stereo and small built-in cooler, plus storage locker. Has two opposing bench seats and a V berth forward w/porta-potty.
You'll have to post some pictures of your boat in the spring. I'd like to see it. Jeff |
Hope to next month
Plans are to take the boat to the same shop that Shane Sherman took his to next month, after all of the holiday celebrations are over. Once its at the lake I hope to cut her open, just want to wait as long as possible.

Question
Are there quite a few 30's around out on the east coast? Most of the pics I have seen or people I have heard from seem to be located on the east coast.
|
there are alot of them up here in the northeast mainly because of the dealer that was in conneticut. the name is strong among people who have seen them over the years.
|
Outageous is a 34ft that ran in D class and IT S IN NORWOOD MASS, or waslast time I saw it.
|
If I'm not mistaken the "Great Adventure" shown was a 31 that I put together. The original was the old P-1, a 30 ft. from late 70's early 80 that was the National champion in it's time.

Stillcrazy,
I believe it's an '89 or '88, so you're probably right...I think Bill is bringing her back... It has the pleasure cockpit with a 3-man bolster, but full race rigging...B-class BB's.... I looked at it a couple times & didn't pull the trigger.... Oh well...I like what we have....:D |
hey Bodyshot1,
You are absolutely right. It would have been 88-89 with three man bolster, triple kill switches etc. No padded lounger with lock downs. As I remember we left it so a back seat could be installed to take "guests out" or covered for racing. Cabin area was not finished, only access holes cut forward. Dash was not stock but custom for racing. (X) dimension was increased and bottom massaged a little. |
yeah that's it alright!....I wanted to do a 6-man bolster, have a fairing installed...Bill has a big grab rail that runs the windshield line...
would've been perfect for P-class and poker runs... again...oh well.... ;) |
1986 Sutphen 30
This is a picture of my 1986 30 Sutphen. This boat has a race dash and race engine hatch, but a full pleasure boat interior. This was the first AME 4000 resin boat that Richie built. It was originally built for a local orthodontist in Fort Myers and was raced once previously in C Class in Sarasota. I won first place overall Local Class Sarasota in 1997 and 1998. The boat originally had 400 Cyclones and # II SSM. I repowered the boat in 1995 with HP 465s and TRS drives. I own two other Sutphens - the 1989 31 Spirit brochure boat I just repowered with HP 500s and Bravos and a 1999 35 with # VI s and 750 hp EFI. I will post pictures of the other boats when I have time.

Hey boat racerl30,
Page (1) of this thread I posted pics of Doc. "E's" boat while under constuction at the old finish shop. I Know you from the FM Offshore race club. I ran the Dry Pits there for the first 8 yrs. I would have bought the 30 but didn't hear about it until too late. I am retired but work part time for Page racing. Me and Big Joe worked together when the 30 was built. Somthing changed today??? couldn't see or access attachments?? WALT |
Hey Stillcrazy: do you recall a 30 named Execution Express? Boat is down the street from me has speedy 2's or 3's and is all orange with grim reapers on the hullsides? Nice looking machine.
