Default Regulator

out of curiosity, why is the regulator on the fuel rail? Wouldn’t you put the regulator on the fuel cooler near the pump?

MEFI 1 with the VST set up used that fuel rail with the fuel pressure regulator mounted on the front of the fuel rail. OEM stock Mercruiser used that set up. And yes number 7 fuel passage in the fuel rail always needs to be machined. Bad design from the get go

The VST was the first design for efi Mercruiser. At that time their was no cool fuel. OEM stock apps

What Bup said and the regulator is adjustable pressure and is at the end of the feed rail. it then bleeds off and the excess goes to the lower rail and went to the VST tank or like I had it straight back to the main fuel tank.
