Amazing that a bunch of power boaters ran the site much better then a bunch of people from India. Maybe they are not translating the complaints correctly! If I was an advertiser I would be PISSED.

I have really been putting a lot of thought into if I'm going to renew as an advertiser. I also advertise on Boatfreaks. This site is very expensive and I don't feel I'm getting my money's worth. I can advertise on Boatfreaks for the next 8 years for what it costs for one year on OSO. That's right, 8 years!!!!
I only have a limited amount of advertising money, so, like anyone else, I want the best bang for my buck. I just don't think I'm getting it.

Been having trouble here too and seriously doubt if I'll re-new. Boatfreaks seems to be the ticket.

Here is the response I received after notiofication. It looks to me like no-one reads the posts when there is an issue? I have been a member of "Freaks" since 04 also. Like OSO better, format/knowledge/archives/etc. I use both, but for the offshore knowledge, do not want to lose/leave this site. I am responding with them to read "Broken OSO" thread.

Hi,

What troubles are you having?

Why do we have so much trouble with the site? This is rediculous where I have to try 3 or 4 times to get a thread to come up etc. People are starting to transfer to other sites. You need to pay attention and answer some issues on the threads soon or the main guys will leave and the OSO site will be gone.

If I am not mistaken the problems did not start until after they moved/ changed servers. I am going to guess they now have the OSO server with all of the other servers they own. They might not have enough bandwith to handle all of their servers or they are having some problems with their switches. Some time OSO speed is good and then other times every page or part of a page times out. You would think their IT guy could figure this problem out.

When steve first bought OSO from someone other dude, there where no membership fees. I am one of the few first 200 that started this so called OSO, then fees where imposed so I left and went to speedwake.com
OSO still sucks and you pay for this option. WOW

P/S I heard about this problem with OSO, I just had to come over again and trash it.
P/S #2 I joined Oct 2000 as Mr. B III , not many here can say that.
