We just towed my 01 46 Rough Rider from NC to GA for the Lake Lanier Poker run with a 2005 F450 Crew Cab 4x4 and it did great! I love your new boat! Tell me more about it.
Specs: Maximum loaded trailer weight in lbs.
F450 Crew Cab DRW 4X4...............21,100
F-550 crew cab DRW 4X4...............24,000
I hope this helps!

Matt-
Not my boat buddy.. I work at Cig...
So technically/legally I can't use an F450 to pull the 46 on the 24k GVW trailer... Damn, and I was going to request a PO to buy that white one you have in the classifieds...
I believe weigh stations and DOT are concerned most with GCWR.. not so much with 5th wheel vs bumper tow ratings..
I have no time for a DOT issue... (gotta make it to the poker runs on time)

Tim,
I bet you have a great job! I sold the F450 to Randy at LCM. I would love to order a F550 for you. I bet we could do some trading
Call me if you get a chance. I would love to talk to you sometime.

So,is there a point at which time you are supposed to or are requested to... stop a chicken coop or DOT weight station?
And what would this be for?

The thing with a big truck is that you look like a commercial hauler. You need to have "Not For Hire" on the sides of the truck...
I fear the DOT every time I hit the road with a 1 ton truck pulling 18,000lb...

I know about the "cars" .in 1980 I was traveling from Miami to Houston in the middle of the night with a Suburban I had with the blacked out windows and this trooper chased me down. He thought I was a commercial vehicle. When I opened the door to get (that was the days when you could get out) he saw the interior light and about $hit himself....he let me go, after he woke the wife.
Towing 18,000 with a 1 ton is no concern of theirs, just yours and your insurance comapny if something would happen. That's another story
