I recently took my 02 F250 into the dealership for service due to an oil leak in the rear main and also the motor cutting out at idle. I have had a Superchip in since it was new and have never had a problem with it. I take my chip out whenver it goes to the shop. The dealership did not find a "code" to explain the the cutting out and replaced a glow plug sensor. The cam positioning sensor has been replaced twice which is normally the problem. When I got my truck back to the house, I installed the chip and the truck would not start at first. After two turns of the key, truck started and ran fine for about 3 miles, then died. Removed chip and everything is fine. Can the Ford House flash the ECM to not accept the aftermarket chip? I hate to go without my chip since my gas mileage drops 3 mpg running a 6" lift and tires.

superchips or SCT?
An SCT dealer can put your truck on a dyno and hook you up with a good custom tune, flashed right to your EEC. might not fly with a warranty though.
another common problem with chips is not getting proper contact. but if you had it in there before that shouldn't be the problem.

If it is a plug in chip sometimes it doesn't connect with all the prongs. Make sure are are in the right order and that should solve the problem. I had an 02 F350 with a banks chip and had the same problem. I straightened all the prongs on the computer and no problem since. Told this by a chip dealer, says it happens alot...especially if the chip is removed a couple of times.
