Just got rid of 05 E-500...........same issues as stated..mold odor from a/c

They took dash out of my car 2 times ........still had BAD odor
returned car to service for the 4th time and they said they found the odor.
They said it was the foam that was used around the trans.....I said B.S.
Went to pick up the car and I told them I wanted to see/smell this foam.

When they carried it out in a garbage bag you could smell it from across
the room........like a dead body!!

Picked up the car .............A/C didn't work, No defrost, sunroof only
opened partially. I said ENOUGH..........they bought it back.

Got a 06 CLS 500.........picked it up, on the way to dinner in A.C. with no a/c.

No other issues since then ........but I've only got 1,000 miles on it.

I've had 7 other Benzs S class, SL, E-320, none of them had problems
like these cars..........I think they are just pandering to the masses any
more.

I also have owned 3 BMW's 325is (wife) M5, M6 no real problems.

Look the other way. mbz is stuffing their parts into chrysler as fast as they can. Jeeps too , the 06 cherokee and that new big jeep are a lot of benz electronics. The chrysler crossfire is a clk benz re-bodied. As for bmw vs mbz, as long as it is under warranty I'd take either. Bmw definatly sportier but harder to service. A simple re-code of the ecm takes like 12-14 hours. Mbz takes like a hour. Amg benz models are the ticket for performance and re-sale value.

WOW !!! When I was comparing the two cars it was the standard models. If you want to talk about juiced up cars then lets compare your AMG Benz to the new M-5 with V-10 power and 505 HP. I'm very sure your Benz will be in my rear view mirror everytime.

You better check the facts on that..... You can slalom better in the M5 and thats it.... and we all know how many times we slalom heading down the highway....
