I have a 2000 Maxima LE, 5 speed manual. the drivers side transmission seal started leaking, had it replaced, started leaking again, local mechanic said bent axle, replace that and started leaking again. Now come to find out there are two different seals, one for limited slip and one for non limited slip. Does anyone know how to tell if I have limited slip or not ,, anything I can look for ... Call the dealer's service department with the complete VIN. They can pull it up for you. Back when, LSD was a set of clutches in the diff. Now, they're usually mechanical locking devices that sense slip- they work somewhat like a mechanical governor. You can't tell by lifting it up and turning one wheel like the old Positraction days.

Then, start taking the car to a guy who knows how to work on it.
