Nissan Titan???

Well I just traded in my 2003 F-150 on a new 2006 Nissan Titan. Very tough decision being I was going to buy another Ford. Just wondering if anyone else on OSO is using one for a tow vehicle? And how you like it?

Surprising to see a Michigan resident make THAT switch.

I have a friend here in VA that briefly tows his 32 Sunsation with one, and he has no complaints. He got rid of a 1500 GM 5.3 for the Nissan. If I was towing something of similar size/weight, I would not want anything less than a 3/4 ton truck. Electric/Hydraulic trailer brakes would be the main upgrade I would install on the trailer to tow as such.

It was a tough move. But with 3 kids and so much room in the rear seat area it was tough not to. I'm only towing 6000 t0 6500 lbs at this time so it's plenty power for me. They rate it to pull up to 9,000 but I have a hard time believing that.

Did you take a look at the new Mega Cab from Dodge? Its like a limo in the back seat. I am sure the Nissan is solid, but I bet the Dodge is MORE solid when it comes to accident integrity.

I looked at Dodge back in 03 when I bought my Ford . I just don't care for the Dodge trucks myself. It took a lot to get me away from the Ford. Had the Ford had such nice seating as the Nissan I'd still own one. Thats not to say after 3 years with the Nissan that I won't be back to a Ford. We'll see how the Nissan holds up over time. I am finding the gas milage is not the greatest. Last check I was seeing an average of 13.5 mpg. I've only got 1500 miles on it so I'm hoping that number will improve.

I've always have owned GM products but now I've owned a Titan for a little over a year and absolutely love it..

I only tow about 5000 lbs but it'll still light up the tires with the boat on the back. :D

My only complaint is the tin foil sheet metal.. I got a ding in the hood from an oil change place pushing the hood closed instead of slamming it and a ding in the tailgate also just from pushing it closed :(

My gas mileage hasn't gotten any better 10 - 11 towing. 10 - 11 city but it sure the he!! is fun to drive.. :evilb: :evilb:

Doug

P.S. Stillen now makes a supercharger for it for even worse gas mileage  .....

Re: Nissan Titan???

Doug Glad to hear you still like it. It reminds me of my 2003 Mustang GT when driving it. I will admit she's really got some power. Drives more like a sports car than a truck. I guess I should be happy with my 13.5mpg

Re: Nissan Titan???

The only weak spot on the Titan Is front brake rotors warping. The reason being ,you do tend to drive it like a sports car. They sound awesome and outrun anything stock in it's class. If I was going to buy a gas burner that would be the one. They also outrun Maximas and 350 z for the first 100 yards! I know that for a Fact!

Re: Nissan Titan???

Thats about the only real issue I've heard with the truck as well. To be honest after owning 3 Grand Cherokee's over an 11 year period, everytime I needed to have the brakes done the rotors were warped due to the same issue. So if thats the only issue with the truck I don't consider that much of problem. Pending they don't need replacing at 20,000 miles.
