Re: Tow vehicle options
Forget all the other suggestions, just go out and get yourself an International RXT or a CXT 4x4...Ken.

Re: Tow vehicle options
i drive an International somedays at work. great ride on the highway and little effort to steer.. gears are a little tight though.

Re: Tow vehicle options
You need to remember to add fuel and about 3,000lbs for a trailer to your dry weight to really figure what you are towing. I can't think of an SUV that is going to pull that much.

Re: Tow vehicle options
oops, hit the wrong button. My 36' Apache is 10k dry and I just hauled it 600 miles with a 2005 Dodge/Cummins 3500 SRW 4x4. The truck pulled it nicely. The dually would be nice if I only drove in rural areas, but living in the city I can't deal with that foot print for day to day driving.
On my trip I also got a legitamate 13.4mpg towing and I get around 22mpg highway when not towing. That along with the tight turning radius make the Dodge my pick for your application. I would definately beef up the torque converter, that is the weak link that Dodge needs to work on. |
