Mine def makes a noticable 'tapping'/ 'knocking' like noise at start-up. About 60-90secs it's gone. 2001 8.1 with 80,000mi. It has done this for as long as I've owned it ... last 3 yrs / 50Kmi.
My truck is, and has been, flawless other than that ... which I hadn't really even thought about until I read this thread
