"FYI I have never sold on on OSO nor do I care if I do"

Now that's funny chit right there......I don't care who you are. He must have a little Clinton in him.

Um, time out!!

Is it worth all of this nonsense about a draw bar?

Can we fast forward to spring please?

I think we can all solve this by saying the following while sipping a beer:

Who gives a chit, I am just going to use what I think is the best thing for me. If someone wants to use something else, then that is their choice.

Now, don't we all feel better?:D

Let me summarize.

Some guy asks a question.
Somebody with knowledge answers it. We have ratings, physics, the whole deal.
Somebody who has an opinion turns it into a pissing match.
Then some short dude from Jersey...types...some...crap....

Sound about right?

You hit the nail on the head my friend

As the thread starter, I appreciate everyone's input. But at this point there's more BS than fact & opinion so can we end it here?

The Alumistingers from Andersen have been tested to 14,000 pounds without incidents. Te adjustable 5" models are good for any tow vehicle of standard 18-22 inch hitch heights for standard height trailer couplers. More than that, and the 10" model is a better choice. The adjustable ones go to 10" up or 6" down and are terrific for mulitple users. Try to find a Stainless steel lockset as well as the stainless hitchball. Trimass makes a matchin lockset # tbb43. The single alumistingers now come in class 3 or 5 capacity.. at either 8k or 10k. The newer Aluminim alloys will take a beating before they break, and the addtion of Stainless Hitch balls and locks really do it justice. We see a lot of them in Oregon.
As far as weight is concerned the solid billet aluminum Ballmounts weigh less than the hollow stock steel, and considerably less than solid steel stocks, at greater capacitites. Unfortunately, no weight distribution stock yet.
( Sorry for that disagreement.)

The Rapid/Ultra-hitch websites give more information than I can list here.

happy rovin!

The Alumistingers hold up...I can prove it.

I got in a wreck last fall going through Jefferson City on the way to LOTO. I was in a collison with a Mack tandem which stopped my 3/4 ton GMC and my 292 Formula cold. You can see what happened in the pictures. The alumistinger held up.....

Rapid Hitches are Junk!!!!!

My crew of 12 and myself tow boats and trailers for a living. We have had almost every hitch spoken of in this thread. So here are my two bits.

RAPID HITCHES ARE JUNK!! I have personally had an Alumistinger fail (bent like lead) and have a customer who lost a boat to a Rapid Hitch (broke at corner of shank and drop). Also they offer either a zinc plated ball that doesn’t last well or a lesser rated (8000#) aluminum ball that I’m too scared to try now.

B&W balls are great. We routinely load them to the limit and beyond and have never had a problem. I just towed a boat with 3800# tongue and 18,000# trailer with one. B&W’s chrome plated balls WAY outlast the zinc junkers and they have a hitch with all three ball sizes if you ever have to use it (never have used 1-7/8).

We have balls stolen all the time though. I personally broke off a Rapid Hitch locking pin with ONE HIT of a ball peen hammer and we have had pins cut or broke off of 14 or 15 different adjustable balls and stolen in seven years. So I looked for an answer and found Diversi-Tech hitches. I was wary because they are aluminum and they have that goofy locking system so I contacted the manufacturer and had them send me proof of all their testing. It turns out they have a third party do it and all their hitches are SAE tested to 18,000#. (The most the tester could abuse test to). The tester was impressed so I tried them and am still using them two years later. Not one stolen, not one catastrophic failure, great customer support and warranty (I had a key give me trouble once and they said send it in even though they knew it was past the warranty and they replaced it for free.), I like them. Chrome plated balls too!

I still use B&W balls too as I feel they are better built but the Divers-Tech hitch is great (and looks better if you care). Also someone earlier in this thread asked about the 1” hole in the non adjustable, they offer a 1-1/4” shank hole also.
