The new brackets have been made for the driving lights. The sit nice and flush in the holes now. The lights and even the light holes almost look like they came on the car right from the factory. This idea turned out really well. Now that the lights are in the correct place, we are making buckets to mount behind them so that the light will not shine up through the grill or around the bumper. The buckets will also fill the gap around the lights so that there is no open space there.

Oh yea, the gas cap came in today as well. It's all about the simple pleasures in life!

Here are the last of the pictures for today. The door panels are almost finished and are about ready to go to the upholstery shop. They are fiberglass, but will be covered with black leather or a similar material that will be decided in the next few days. They have a nice cut out arm rest area and the speaker grills will be flush once the upholstery is done.

Lots of cool details on the Camaro. I really like the large exhaust.

Another '64 pic with a friends '68 Charger in the background.

Sorry for the gap in the updates, but I have been busy with the boat lately. We went to the poker run in Jacksonville last week and had an absolute blast. Then this week we had the OPA races here in Ocean City and again had a great time!

Anyhow, here are a few more car pictures. The car is on the ground and the engine has been fired! It is at the upholstery shop now having the interior done. When it comes back from there (supposed to be by the end of this coming week) the rest of the odds and ends will be tackled and this project will be all wrapped up.

We are going to make a tire change when the car comes back because these tires don't have enough sidewall and they make the car look like a low rider (don't like that look on muscle cars). We are also concerned about the back spacing on the rear wheels. They seem to need to come out a little more because the rear wheel well looks like it ate the tires and wheels. We are going to try different tires first and go from there, but I think we are gonna need to change the tires and swap the rear wheels for a pair with different backspacing to make them fill the wheel well better. I wish I could find an exact copy of the factory rally wheels in this size and width. I found some that were close, but nothing exact.

Oh yea, the car is wet in these pictures because it was in the process of being washed before going to the interior shop. I just didn't want you to think that we rolled it out in the rain with no glass installed.

These were taken this past week. The car is at the upholstery shop. They have all of the structures built and now just need to cover everything. We are doing everything in black except the seats and door panels, which will still be mainly black, but will have some orange and black houndstooth material mixed in. I'll post more pics as we go along.

I think that the engine came out really well. We want it to jump out at you when you open the hood like a diamond in a jewelry box, so we used lots of aluminum and surrounded it all in black. All of the wiring and plumbing lines are hidden and run through the fenders so you don't see hardly any of it. I am really happy with how this turned out. I came really close to going with an LS7, but now I am glad that I didn't because it seems like everybody is installing the LS engines in the old Camaros and Corvettes now. I have seen a lot of them at car shows and in the magazines lately. This engine gives me the same performance, but looks like it belongs in the car.

Now we just need to get the wheel and tire combo figured out we'll be back on track!
