I have a lightly modded 06 f350 and will not trade it for the new ones. My truck makes way more power than the 08. I did add airbags in the rear and towing it has no problems. I also roll nice on 22.5' alcoas.

Hot Duck, have you pulled the 45' Apache with the f450 yet? If so, how was it?

I have a 450 with about 8000 miles. The fuel milege sucks. I have done some research on the axles. You can buy 4:10 gears for the new rear axle for about 1000.00 bucks. But i have talk to the guys at gear vendors .com and you can ad a gear reducer that will allow you to gear your truck down to a 3:73. just by flipping a switch you can go from 4:88 to 3:73 while you are moving down the road. They sell to heavy haulers that travel empty sometimes. I am in the process of buying one of these reducers. I am expecting to go from 9.5 to 12 to 13 miles per gallon. The better advantage is you arent wearing out the motor when you are running 80 down the road.

Please keep us informed, this would be perfect for my application. I was actually thinking of getting another F350 so I could get the 3.73 gears, I throw a tuner on them anyways, and with that it makes more than enough power...Im not into high reving diesels, especially at hwy speeds. Thanks Jeff

BTW.. www.innovativediesel.com Eric has an 08 CC shortbed turning 14.5 on a SCT tune. More is to come, with exhaust and intake and more tuning. Presently on the same race tune my 07 F350 turned 13.96 at the track, but it was a cooler day and a perfect launch. The other 2 times I turned 14.3 and a 14.09. The street tune my daily driver turns 14.3-6. consistantly. Loves these trucks. Jeff

Where can i find more info on this? I have been to gearvendors.com and am lost. We do all out pulling with the 450 and the mileage sucks with the 4.88. I want to get the better mileage. A lot of what i pull is 10,000 or so LBS.
