Question Ford 6.0 shimming issue

Has anyone noticed a shimming issue when towing. The shimmy is more noticeable when taking off from a dead stop. The shimmy works its way out. My truck is a 06' F350, full 4 doors with a long bed. I am only towing a 28 Heat which is about 6,300 lbs with the trailer.

Any suggestions???

Thanks

Your Nordic on a trailer full of fuel is at least 7000 lbs.

Do you have aftermarket exhaust? I have a 4" MBRP on my 7.3PSD that was hitting my transmission crossmember when taking off as the motor torqued up; at a place where it was VERY hard to see. We (as in two different shops and myself) thought it was in the drivetrain for a long time.

Do you have any lift or tire mods? You could have your driveshaft in a bind; and/or your driveshaft may be out of balance.

I got some shimming after I put a 8" lift and 37" tires , I eliminated some by lowering the carrier bearring, but still have some .

My Alison tranny torque converter locking in at 2000 rpm can be felt under acceleration while towing my 17,000 lbs of boat & trailer. It feels kind of like a knocking shimmy I guess.

Is it in the steering wheel?

Maybe when your taking off, it's unloading the front suspension enough to cause a shimmy.

I have a leveling kit and stock exhaust. I do have a SCT chip but it does not matter if I turn it off or not. I just started having this problem and know I am noticing it without the trailer.

You feel it come from the floor...

Thanks Guys!

Sorry I forgot..... I has a 03' Black Limited Excursion with the 7.3 and loved it. I wish I never sold it. Installed an 8" Z-link kit (coil-over) and ran a 38" Nittos with 20" rims. She was sexy..... Forgot to mention she rain a 14.3 in the quarter.

She would bark a 3rd gear scratch with 38's

Default shimmy

the f250 and 350 come from the factory with 2 different sized rear blocks. the taller usually in 4 door long beds. if yours has a 3.5" rear block a simple shim kit for the carrier bearing should fix the prob. ford wont have the solution, but your local off road store should have it.
