We pull with an 07 Duramax classic DRW. With boat full of gas, lots of gear, and 5 guys in the truck we grosses 25k on the scales. Pulled 1100 miles from punta gorda, FL to Indianapolis, IN. No problem

I have a 04.5 2500HD. I changed the water pump at 130k. Kinda pricey, $850 parts & labor.
I like the truck better than the F-250 I also have.
Both are due to be replaced. I think I'll go with a new Duramax.
Anyone know what mileage the new stuff is getting?

2005 with 48,000 miles and only been to the shop for one repair. All other trips were for standard maintenance. Pulls great on the road. Hard to beat!

I like them ...great puller..and they have been turning alot of miles now....so people can no longer say there to new to be proven...very nice to see a piece that has not been changed over the years....

My 08 4x4 CC shortbed chevy is getting 13.6 at 1800 miles,,,and its for sale

That's about what mine gets around town. I get about 18 on the highway if I keep it under 70. Speed kills the mileage on mine. It goes down to 16.5 or so at 75 and up to 18+ at 55-60 if I can stand driving around that slow.

With the current diesel formulas, I doubt you can do much better with any other brand of truck (maybe a MPG or two in similar trucks and driving conditions). There's no way a new Ford or Dodge with the same fuel is going to do much better and a diesel will still easily out-MPG a gasser pulling the same weight around. Gearing can make a difference, but will affect towing ability.

Good luck in your quest for MPG's. (at least that's what it appears you're after) :ernaehrung004:

I towed my 38 Donzi zx with my 2002 Duramax and it was such a great truck for me that I bought another one brand new that was identical color and options in 2004. Never had any mechanical issues other than brakes and typical preventive maintenance. I did tow the boat a few times with a 2006 Dodge Cummins which had just as much power but did not tow as solid as the GMC, just my .02!!!
