SWEET cars......I just spent last week at the SRT Driving experience that comes with the purchase of any SRT vehicle. (I drive an 08 SRT Charger).....Ended up pulling 130mph driving a Charger, and 160mph as a passenger in a Viper on a road course while there. These cars haul azz!!!!!

I plan to buy an `09 R/T Challenger with 5.7 / 6 speed.

I will pay a reasonable price, but I refuse to even discuss paying anything over MSRP. My local dealer wanted $8000 over for an SRT8 Challenger. I told them I didn`t need one that bad.

I'm with ya. Waiting for the 6-sp to come out anyway.

Have Seen A Bunch Of Them Running Threw The Auctions Already...

PARADOX 07-24-2008 04:38 PM

Got one in blue?

I'll been looking for my next car. Mind as well be like my first car. (back in the 70's) DON'T DO THE MATH> I don't want to know..

KiloKat 07-24-2008 05:53 PM

I bought a silver one. Really nice car! Ride & seat comfort are great - no comparison in ride to my Jeep SRT8 or RAM SRT10. The latter two ride is very harsh. The Challenger's independent suspension has to have a great deal to do with this. Paid sticker.

Jassman 07-24-2008 07:16 PM

Have a 09 Bright silver or B5 Blue one coming..3.93gears, 6 speed manual, everything but sunroof..Next door neighbor is the owner..getting one heck of a deal..

Yes, one with all the options (only 3 options) sticker for $42k. They're bringing $49-$51k at auction.

I think a supercharger and gear swap would be perfect! :drink:

Don't think anyone has figured how to get the computer to accept a gear swap yet (my info is 6 months old though)....I have seen a SRT Charger that became a 392 stroker AND a 8.5 supercharger on top.

John B 07-24-2008 09:44 PM

I picked up my silver one 7/22. The only color for those of us over 50!:drink:

It looks even better in real life than in the pictures.

For now.

Dealer greed. Never ceases to amaze me.
In a few months they will be selling below sticker.

thats why 3 dealers in our area have a total of 8 sitting..5-10k over list...if it was supply and demand they would be gone..but as the dealer above (ROCKY DELL) in this post states ..auction was getting 49-51k..That will change in a few months. Its greed, plain and simple.

Jupiter Sunsation 07-25-2008 02:01 PM

Z06 Corvettes/ BMW M3s are collecting dust as well but atleast they are down to asking sticker now. Local Chevy dealer has 5 Z06's sitting on the lot but they think they have gold or barrels of oil sitting out there going up in value daily!
BMW dealer last week is coming to the realization an M3 Convertible is not supposed to be an 80K car, high 60's for a sedan/coupe.

If the auction is 5 to 8k over sticker what do you think would be on the retail end? Somebody is paying over stick for them. So a Dodge store has one model they can make a little extra on. Keep in mind they are getting their teeth kicked in on the truck side.

Go try and purchase a brand new Ferrari.....50 to 70k over sticker......not greed its what the market brings....

Just because no one here wants to pay over sticker does not mean the next guy won't

M3's are getting killed buy their own model 335.

The Z06's have over priced themselves for some of their clients.....plus they have the new one comming out...

I love the 335 with a chip/exhaust/wheels for 20K less.

The other thing is the dual mode exhaust stock vette is 424 HP for 45K new vs the 505 HP Z06 for 75K. 30K is a lot for 71 HP. Z06 is cooler looking but 30K can buy a lot of extras. I have seen a lot of guys daily driving Z06's since the car is soon to be obsolete with the ZR1 coming back with 6?? HP.

I love BMW's and Vettes.....I would have a Z06 if you could remove the top. That is my personal downfall.

I want to put my wife in the 335...alot of car for the money:cool:

t500hps 07-25-2008 03:35 PM

Getting back to Mopar....the stock vette isn't all that, it can't out-run my SRT Charger (a buddy has one).......I did add a CAI and a Programmer/tuner but that's it. I've only been to the track once in my life and it was recently in the Charger.
4,445 lbs with me sitting in it
20 inch wheels, stock tires but lowered air pressure
4 door sedan :)

ran a 1.96 60ft, 12.9 @ 110 mph (with someone behind the wheel that has NEVER been to the track before)

Now the BMW 3's are sweet cars but the Charger/Challenger just LOOK like beasts.

the 09 models will be here in 60-75 days..thats when the silver or blue one will be in. Different gearing as well as pistol grip shifter, real posi, will be available. I paid less than sticker and he outright bought my 07 Honda Pilot for a great price..24k . I also have the option to sell it before the vehicle comes in. For me it was an exceptional deal that I couldnt pass up.

PARADOX 07-25-2008 07:44 PM

I really miss my G-35... so not sure about the next 2door, rear whell drive car yet. Challangers are in the running, but waiting for some new stuff to come out. Any ideas?

Wrong!! What is wrong w/ retail???
That is like saying - McDonalds should raise burger prices over their retail @ lunch & dinner because the demand is high.
Sorry, but that idea is wrong.

Will that dealer that was greedy give you more when you trade it in? Nope.

You can find Challengers on lots ready to go. When the 2005 Mustang came out (dealers were greedy then too) you couldn't find a Mustang on a dealers lots for months.

By charging over retail, dealers screw themselves AND the mfg. When Ford brought out the GT, dealer greed set in and they wanted $20K - $50K over retail. Well the cars didn't sell well. So they slowed and then stopped production because demand wasn't there. Demand wasn't there because the dealers inflated the price so much, no one with a brain would buy one.
Look @ Challengers right now. Dealers are doing same thing and they have cars ready to drive off right now. Yes the economy is playing a big part, even more reason to not be greedy.
Put them at retail and the inventory will move.

I agree, and even at retail that is fair for getting the first one on your block....Hell BMW, Mercedes sell at sticker or use to.

I'm not the franchised dealer my friend, so I don't set the prices. I'm only a broker filling someone's order.

And yes, I agree with you 100%, the prices will come down in a few months or less, but for those who need to have one YESTERDAY, they must pay what the market will bear.

Donman 07-27-2008 10:13 PM

I want a B5 blue Challenger, just like the `70 Challenger I had in high school, back in 1981. Wish I still had it ......

Congrats on the Sale.....Are you going to get any Cameros?

Thanks, but it was sold before I bought it. A friend of mine is a Dodge dealer, so it wasn't too hard to get one. He also owns a Chevy store, so if I get an order for a Camaro, then sure I'll get one.
