Let's make a SUPER CONSERVATIVE estimate that the 31' Scarab weights 7500 lbs. dry. (Insert actual weight if known. I'm going with a 31' twin BBC estimate.)

7500 lbs. of boat
1500 lbs. of trailer (at least, 2000)
300 lbs. of fuel -- 50 gallons of fuel (half tank?/6 lbs./Gallon)

BEFORE you talk about coolers, anchors, tools, spare parts, and all the other gear we carry.

That's 9300 lbs.; already 1000+ lbs. over the rated towing capacity of the truck. Then you are going to fill it with passengers (loved ones), and weekend gear, luggage, etc. etc.?

= Poor Advice to state the Denali is up to the task.

Not to mention, it's illegal.
Amen.

you are getting a little carried away with this one. the question was would it pull his boat and the answer is YES, without a problem. it you want to start getting technical you better get yourself and f 350 to pull that sea doo.

It is equipped with a different front (like the white on the picture with the Scarab) and some extra door panels, crome door handles, painted wheel/fender flares ++.

I was told it was a Denali version, but I cant find that name anywhere on the car or in the papers. It is said to be as delivered from the factory.

Thanx
I am pretty sure from what you have described yours isn't a denali. I am pretty sure they never came as duallies. There is a pickup version but its not a dully. They don't come with chrome door handles or fender flares that are added to the fenders. If you post up a pick I will be able to tell you for sure if it is or isn't. It sounds like someone just customised the pickup you have.

Have you ever lost your trailer brakes while towing? I have. Once when towing a 32 Sunsation with my 2004 2500HD Crew Cab Duramax and once again towing my 26' Chaparral with my Denali. The outcomes were quite different. So yes, the Denali will get a 31 Scarab moving just fine. It will struggle to keep it moving along if the terrain has any kind of hills whatsoever. And emergency braking with anything other than 3 axles worth of properly working brakes could be disastrous.

Will it pull it? YES

however anyone that tows their boat long distances like I do will offer the BEST advice and that is what others have said, the vehicle/tow combo is over weight and not safe.

Nowadays if you are involved in an accident and whether you are at fault or not, if the tow vehicle was towing something overweight, you are in big trouble. Same goes for the hitch. Not all vehicles have the proper hitch although everyone thinks they are since it is a 3/4 or 1 ton rig. After you determine your full weight, you better check the manufactures hitch and make sure it is rated properly. I installed an aftermarket CURT hitch on my HD2500 as the standard GM hitch is junk and limited to what it can tow.

If you are not technical about selecting everything for proper towing, you are asking for BIG trouble. I am not willing to risk my life nor do I expect others to feel comfortable by having my vehicle not properly set up.

Per the owners manual the Maximum Trailer Weight is 8,100 lbs and

the GCWR is 14,000 lbs. Axle ratio is 3.73

THE 14,000 lb # combined weight of Truck, trailer, boat people, cargo etc.
