2005 denali for towing?

If your Scarab is a carbon fiber boat with no engine in it and sits on an aliminum trailer you should be alright. If it is a normal 31 with either a big block or two small blocks the answer is no.Originally Posted by 88scarab

the air suspension in the back wont allow the truck to be levelled in my opinion. hook it up before you buy it and see how it goes!

This is correct, now if its the Denali XL, that helps. Pretty much the biggest boat we pull with a Denali XL is a 30 Baja, probably very close to the size and weight of a 31 Scarab. That allwheel drive will wear out if you do allot of heavy towing also.Originally Posted by wananewboat
Like always, it will tow it, but it won't be safe.

How much does the scarab weigh? I love towing with my denali. Its very stable when driving with the boat. I can cruise comfortablly with mine at over 85 on the highway. The breaks are the only thing that aren't that great but it could just be my driving style since mines supercharged and I push it harder than I probably should.
This picture was taken when it was parked on a hill but you can see its pretty level even with the truck off and the air suspension not on.

I'm not sure thats true. I believe the suspension is autoleveling. I have an 03 Denali thats lowered 3" in the back and my truck sits level with the boat attached to it. I am only pulling a 3300lb boat though with an aluminum trailer though. Ive got around 500lbs of stereo equipment in the trunk also so that wouldn't help it be level either but it is.Originally Posted by jeff32

The brakes definately would need to be addressed. My trailer has brakes on it and my Denalis brakes still take a beating when towing and I am sure the scarab would make the situation even worse.Originally Posted by mr.boat
keep trailer brakes high on your list.
Just curious... Is a Denali a special version of the Surburban/Tahoe or is it a styling package? I have 2002 GMC Sierra 3500 big dually crew cab, and that has also the name Denali. It is equipped with a different front (like the white on the picture with the Scarab) and some extra door panels, crome door handles, painted wheel/fender flares ++.
I was told it was a Denali version, but I cant find that name anywhere on the car or in the papers. It is said to be as delivered from the factory.
Thanx
