You know what Newbie NO speed your 59 posts and your PowerJOKES aren't important enough for me to continue this conversation. I don't know how old you are but I think you're not out of High School yet. I'm done with you.

Cat, these Spartan tuners are some of the finest piece's of aftermarket tuners out there... for the Powerstroke. I am good friends with Eric from Innovative .. SCT tuner... and then there is another player.. River City diesel... also SCT. The 275 hp and some of us have the 310 hp tune.. beta testers are doing testing for these various companies. All I can tell you is.. and you probably know this, I have both 08 GMC Duramax and Powerstroke. I will not get into which truck is better, it depends on the application. I will tell you and have mentioned it on here previously, the Allison is a great tranny, but, it has parameters, and can not hold a tune of more than a 100 hp vs the Torque shift in the Ford. I can't comment on the Dodge, cause Ive only had one.. but the new 2010 looks to be a very competitive piece.. 2010 is going to be a great year.

WTF- he gave you the info YOU asked for. You then refer to him as a "Newbie", call him "NO Speed", refer to powerstrokes as "PowerJOKES" and reference his "59 Posts". Let me get this straight, you are questioning his AGE ?

Jassman's reply to me is how you talk to someone, not yelling like an a$$hole.

My 2 cents: I owned a 6.0 which I tuned. I now own a 6.4 which I left stock.
The tuner added a lot of power and torque but whippped the motor. Ford and Navistar are both huge companies with a lot of great engineers.
They tune the motors the way they do for a reason. Whether it be longevity, transmission compatibility, consistency, injector or other durable part ware; things are compromised when tuning these motors. They are not designed to be tuned over a wide range of settings like the big diesels are.
Bottom line: if you have to tune and modify it to tow well, you have the wrong truck.

Sorry if you took my posts wrong Cat, but what you said was not true. I gave you numerous post and documentation proving my statements.
I have been on diesel forums for as long as I can remember, I am only 21. But i have driven a diesel since I was 14 on my uncles farm and have been hooked ever since. I have read so much info about the 6.4l (my truck), and all the other brands that it will make you sick. I visited each brand dealer and took out each truck before I bought my 6.4l, and I am happy with my decision.
You may not agree with me and that is fine, i understand you are brand loyal, and dont want to hear things you dont believe. But when someone proves you wrong take it in stride, and learn from it. I am proved wrong everyday and I learn from it.
Now about the trucks:
Dodge - Cant beat a Cummins engine, Auto trans suck at stock levels. Weak suspension makes for a bumpy uncomfortable ride when towing heavy weight.
GM- Duramax is a great engine, has tons of mid range power, allison trans is a monster when the engine is kept stock. Combo will last well over 300k miles. IDFS plain sucks for a heavy duty truck.
Ford - The new 6.4l is a monster when tuned, when left stock it is less than satisfying, but so are all of the DPF/Cat trucks at some point. The torqshift transmission has pretty much proven itself in stock form to take well over 1000ftlbs and be reliable. Being the heaviest truck it feels the most comfortable when towing.
As far as how navistar/ford tunes the engines anymore they do not tune them to run the best, make the most power, or last the longest... they tune them for one thing... EMISSIONS! Period.
Will things get worn faster having a higher HP/ Higher Tq tune...sure they will, how much is up to how you drive it. If you drive it responsible and use its power in a respectful manner than it will last just as long as it would in stock form
I havent read enough about the 10 trucks yet to post any info as I am still learning about the trucks that are out now.
O and now I have 61 post!
Just kidding man.
