Those trucks are fantasic. If you want to actually get some correct info, check out www.cumminsforum.com
Well you and I both know that the stock TCs in Dodge transmissions suck. I didn't have any trouble with 6k behind my truck but it was a lazy-shifting tranny. I think anything over 8000-9000lbs the 47-48REs need rebuilding.

I checked Blue Book and the price is about $500 below book. If the truck looks clean take it to a diesel mechanic and let him go through it front to rear.

I had an 03 3500 srw with the 305/555 HO motor, put almost 50,000 miles on it and had no trouble with anything on it. Towed my 6000lb rig like it wasn't there. It looked and drove just as good when I traded it as when I bought it. I traded for another Dodge, this time a 2006 dually. I've put over 42,000 miles on this one and still have not had a problem with it.
lemon/Dodge, same thing. I actually did not buy it. I had owned 2 in the past and they were both pieces of crap and I swore I would never own another. This one actually came as a part of business acquisition and I had to take it on. I was worried that it would be a pile of chit and true to form, it has been. They are junk and they always have been. 42,000 miles? 50,000 miles? Are you kidding me? I don't think you should blow the Dodge horn so loud when you haven't even worn out a set of tires on one yet.

Akshully I did on this dually. The POS General tires it came with only lasted 42k.

I've got 110K on my 04 Dodge diesel 4x4 and haven't had any transmission problems yet. Pulled boat and trailer every weekend(app 10k#) This is my third Dodge diesel and would buy another one. IMO a lot of trouble some people have with the Dodge transmission has a lot to do with what is behind the steering wheel, and has nothing to do with the truck itself.

Dodge tranny is holding up pretty well in this rig. (6.34 1/8th) Ally just cann't handle the power. Not that anyone is going to be doing this to the tow rigs but when the dodge tranny is built they are the cats ass. I own two cummins and i would own any other diesel. My play truck runs mid 12s and my DD with a smarty (programmer) makes 500hp plus.

Yes it is a chevy with a dodge trans behind it. Not any trans can handle the power once its built right, thats why they ditched the allision. 1500 in a coverter and valve body will do wonders.
