+1 I do notice the duramax inventory is damn near non-existent on dealer lots currently...... |
I would buy the new Dodge Ram! The Mega cab is amazing, the Cummins is a REAL DIESEL. Inline is more reliable, and more low end torque, thats why almost ALL Semi's (which keep american running) only use inline designs for thier diesel engines. I have owned 2 03 Rams, 1 08, and will buy a 2010 soon. My current 03 has 356,000 miles all original 99% towing a 3/4 car trailer it entire life! You will love the Dodge and the Cummins. I love the Factoy exhaust brake on the 6.7 Cummins also! ENJOY!

i have the megacab with the 6.7. it has 29000 miles in less than a year and has yet to go to the shop for anything. the low end tq is impressive. i drive fords at work and i am not impressed at all with the quality. seem to have lots of quirks. all my friends that have the fords have been having problems ( turbos and block issues ). i had a chevy before i got the dodge. the chevy seats are better but the dodge seems to pull much better from off the line and has been very reliable. they all have their ups and downs. for reliability i would go with the dodge. for comfort, chevy. not sure about the new ford yet. it could be ok. i am just not too sure about it. bad taste from previous experiance i guess.

The Dodge is interesting with the inline 6 and I love the MegaCab idea but the Made in MEXICO sticker on the door prevents me from signing on the dotted line........

On a side note, I was shocked when I looked on the door sticker of my truck for the curb weight(7450lbs)and saw it was built in Mexico. I did not know that when I bought it. But even if I had known that beforehand I still would have bought it. I had owned an 03 before this one so I knew the Cummins was the key to best towing performance and reliability. I do wish Dodge would bring production back to America, and I can't imagine that Mexico has better craftsmen than we do.That goes for the Ford engine too. We need those jobs here. |

The Mexico thing would bother me but then again the Camaro made in Canada would aggravate me as well. The "heartbeat of America's hotrod" is made in Canada?
I have an 03 Duramax I bought new and it has been great for 157K miles. I buy 1500's for my employees and there are a few assembled in Silag, Mexico. I wouldn't buy the truck if it was made in Mexico. The dealer was frustrated with me but did find trucks made in Texas for me to buy. Anything Duramax powered is still made in Flint, MI so that hasn't been an issue yet. I have bought many foreign cars, primarily German and have never owned a Japanese one, not a political thing just don't like the "generic" feel of them. As for Mexico, all of the pool pump motors you can buy today are assembled there. Years ago a lot of stuff came out of the midwest, Wisconsin also comes to mind. You used to get 7-10 years easily out of a motor, now you can't get 5-6. It is good and bad, good as in the motors have gotten cheaper but bad they don't last as long. BTW they all have American companies names on them, A.O. Smith, GE Marathon etc...... Custom application stuff can occasionally be still made in America but it is very odd to see that sticker anymore. Give me the option and I will buy it even if it costs a few bucks more! |

It's not just production that has been outsourced. Have to pay the CEO's someway.:bsflag: I can't wait until we start outsourcing their jobs.:drink: |
