The best way to never have them go bad is carry spares, I have a CPS and Idbm, in my truck and never needed them, in the two newer 7.3's I have had. Over 300k miles together on the two and never been left anywhere, so now I'll break next time it drive it.

Yep! I carry a spare cps and glow plug relay in my glove box. My 7.3 used to eat them both alot, have not had any issues with them in a few years though.
